The weather hasn't been playing nicely for some of our pro staffers in Queensland, so fishing has been tricky. But that hasn't stopped Pro Staffer Billy Lee () from getting out there and making the most of the opportunities when they come. 🎣

He recently landed this beautiful coral trout using the Edge Black Widow BCR666, proving that when the conditions line up, it's worth getting out there and having a crack.

Thanks Pro Staffer Damon Andrews () for putting together this awesome clip of the new Imakatsu Oni Viral in action.

Features Imakatsu's original 'Synchronised Prop System'. It's a slow-sinking top water lure. The props work amazingly well, allowing the lure to be fished at different speeds. Fish it fast to cover ground or slow and keep it in the zone, as Damon says.

Try it out, great for targeting bass.

Post continued | Part 2 of 2! πŸ†πŸŽ£ Pro Staffer Luke Rogan () shares more from his amazing experience and win in the Samaki BREAM Queensland Open Championship.

TACKLE THAT GOT IT DONE

A big part of my success comes down to having confidence in my gear and knowing exactly what each setup is capable of.

ROD LINEUP:

- Edge LMX SC-BSR702-1 Extra Fast (4–8lb)

- Edge LMX SC-DSR710-1 Extra Fast (4–10lb)

- Edge LMX SC-DSR760-1 Extra Fast (4–10lb)

The DSR760-1 continues to be one of my favourite rods. It's an incredibly versatile finesse rod that suits a wide range of techniques and applications.

ALL OUTFITS LOADED WITH:

- Toray Super Strong PE8 braid – 13lb

- Toray Super Hard Fluorocarbon Leader – 5lb and 8lb

I've been using Toray Super Hard leader for around four years now and have complete confidence in it, particularly when fishing around structure, docks and pontoons where abrasion resistance is critical.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Tournament fishing always presents challenges, and this event was no different. From committing to a long run in windy conditions on Day 1 to grinding out upgrades around Sovereign Islands on Day 2, every decision mattered.

To finish with 10/10 bream for 6.386kg and take out the 2026 Samaki BREAM Queensland Open Championship for the second year running is something I'm extremely grateful for. A huge thank you to my sponsors, supporters, family and everyone who continues to back me on the tournament trail.

🐟 HUGE congratulations to Pro Staffer Luke Rogan's 2026 Samaki BREAM Queensland Open Championship Win πŸ†

"Winning the 2026 Samaki BREAM Queensland Open Championship is something I'm incredibly proud of, and to go back-to-back makes it even more special.

Competing against a quality field of anglers over two days, I was fortunate enough to put together two strong bags and finish the tournament with a total of 10/10 bream for 6.386kg.

🎣 RESULTS

Day 1: 5/5 bream – 3.129kg
Day 2: 5/5 bream – 3.257kg
Total: 10/10 bream – 6.386kg

πŸ—“ DAY 1 – Redcliffe Run Pays Off

Launching from Cleveland, I committed to a long run to the productive waters around Redcliffe despite a forecast of 15–20 knot winds. It was a calculated gamble, but one I felt confident making based on the area's potential.

The decision paid off almost immediately, with my first keeper coming on just my second cast of the day. Fishing reef structure with OSP Bent Minnows and small crankbaits, I quickly put together my 5/5 bag before making a strategic move into the Brisbane River in search of valuable upgrades.

Several key culls throughout the session helped me build a strong opening weight of 3.129kg, putting me in a good position heading into the final day.

πŸ—“ DAY 2 – Gold Coast Grind

With Day 2 held on the Gold Coast, my focus shifted to the docks and pontoons around Sovereign Islands.

I spent the day moving through key areas, throwing Cranka Crabs and lightly weighted soft plastics. After securing my five-fish limit, the goal became finding those crucial upgrades that can make all the difference in a tournament.

It wasn't all smooth sailing. I lost a few really good fish throughout the day that would have certainly added some extra weight to the bag. Despite that, I stayed committed to the plan, kept moving between productive locations and managed to bring 3.257kg to the scales.

When the final results were announced, it was enough to secure the championship and defend the title for a second consecutive year.
