The Gilgandra Basketball community is invited to access support from local health and chaplaincy services at the Gilgandra Youth Club this afternoon.

If you, or someone you know, needs some extra support, a listening ear or someone to talk to, please come along.

Gilgandra Shire Council is also offering counselling services for those who may need additional support.

Information for the community who wish to honour our friend Quentin Kapene Karaitiana this afternoon.

Gilgandra Basketball Association is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our players and long-time GBA supporters, Quentin Karaitiana.

Quentin was a passionate supporter of our Association, and his generosity and contributions helped players of all ages enjoy the game of basketball. He was a great friend to so many of us and will be greatly missed by our basketball community and all of Gilgandra.

We extend our deepest condolences, love and support to the Karaitiana family and all those who knew and loved Quentin during this incredibly difficult time.

Round 5 of Gilgandra Senior Basketball will be cancelled next week. Monday night Basketball will return on Monday, 12 October 2026.

The Gilgandra Shire Council Youth Club will be offering support to GBA members affected by this tragedy on Thursday, 17 September, from 4:30–6:00pm. A chaplain and hospital support services will be available at the Youth Club.

Gilgandra Shire Council is also offering counselling services to those who may need additional support.
