REDS ONE STEP CLOSER TO VICTORY

Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma SC have created some breathing room at the top of the table after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over second-placed Murdoch University Melville at the Salvatore Sciuto Pavilion on Saturday night.

Murdoch arrived in Geraldton with victory in mind. Sitting just two points behind the Reds heading into the weekend, they were looking to close the gap at the top.

However, it was La Fiamma’s Golden Boot leader, Simuteya Sikazwe, who broke the deadlock just before half-time. Sikazwe found the back of the net with a beautifully placed strike from 20 yards, ending goal drought in style.

The second half was an end-to-end battle, with both sides creating a number of opportunities. With Murdoch pushing for a late equaliser, Tenzin Norbu produced a crucial goal-line clearance to keep the Reds in front and secure a vital three points.

Round 12 🔥 5-1 WIN

Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma remain in second on the ladder after a 5-1 Win over Perth Saints, in Round 12 on Saturday 11 July. La Fiamma caught an early lead with Lachlan Gray and Kumbi Dzoma finding the net inside 15 minutes. With the Reds in stride and looking for more, Perth Saints grabbed one back on the 25 minute mark then held the pressure for the remainder of the first half, keeping the score to 2-1.

La Fiamma came out strong and commanding in the second half with Luca Emili slotting his second for the season and first for the night, shortly followed by a Tenzin Norbu rocket from an outspilled ball, the affair was all but over until Luca Emili made an ambitious effort from within his own half to chip the keeper who was well of his line, the Reds will face Kalamunda away from home this weekend.
