Later this year, Rugby Victoria will launch a new Elite Pathway structure designed to strengthen, grow, and modernise player development across the state.

This new framework creates a clear, connected system that supports talented Victorian players from junior development through to senior state representation, aligning our programs under one unified identity for both men and women.

Importantly, it establishes a pathway that positions our players for future opportunities at the highest levels of the game, including alignment with the evolving Super Rugby landscape as national structures continue to take shape.

To support this new structure, Rugby Victoria is aligning all state program players under a single, unified identity. For the first time, our men’s and women’s elite teams will operate within one connected system, sharing the same name, the same look, and the same pathway.

This rebrand brings every part of Victorian high performance rugby together — creating clarity, consistency, and a stronger sense of belonging for players progressing through the pathway.

🏉 Harvey Norman Tour & Junior Club Round | 1 August 2026 🏉

What a fantastic day of rugby and community spirit at the Geelong Rams as we hosted our Harvey Norman Tour & Junior Club Round.

From our youngest Rams aged just 4 years old through to our Under 18s, it was a special occasion to see every one of our junior teams playing at home. Days like these are what junior rugby is all about, bringing together players, families, volunteers and supporters to celebrate our great game.

A huge thank you to the Harlequins Juniors, who travelled down and provided fierce competition throughout the day. The skill, determination and sportsmanship displayed across all age groups made for some outstanding rugby and ensured everyone enjoyed a memorable day.

As a club, we couldn't be prouder of all our junior players. Whether it was their effort on the field, their respect for teammates, opponents and referees, or the way they carried themselves around the grounds, every player represented their team, their club and the Rams jersey with pride. On showcase days like these, they demonstrate the values that make our club so special and highlight the bright future of rugby in our region.

These events are only possible because of the incredible volunteers who generously give up their precious time to support our club. To our coaches, managers, committee members, canteen volunteers, ground staff and families who helped throughout the day, thank you. Your dedication and commitment create opportunities for our players to learn, grow and enjoy the game we all love.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the day such a success. It was a wonderful celebration of junior rugby, community and the spirit of the Geelong Rams.

The pride, respect and support shown by our players, families and volunteers is what makes the Geelong Rams such a special club. Here's to continuing to build a strong rugby community together.

Our Bendigo Bank Conference Finals clash against the Melton Warriors certainly didn't disappoint. This was our third meeting of the year, with the ledger sitting at 1-1, so there was always going to be a bit of extra spice in this one.

Both sides left everything out on the paddock in a fiercely contested battle, with tough defence, plenty of physicality, and no shortage of passion. It was anyone's game right until the final whistle, but Melton managed to edge ahead and take the win 33-28, booking their place in tomorrow's final.

Congratulations to the Warriors and thank you for another great contest. Three games this year, three tough battles, and this one was no different.

To our players, coaches, volunteers, supporters and everyone who got behind us throughout the season, thank you. We couldn't be prouder of the commitment, resilience and spirit shown by this group all year.

We'd also like to wish the remaining finalists the very best of luck tomorrow:

And finally... for what may genuinely be the first time in Rams history, we'll be wholeheartedly supporting the referees tomorrow! 😂👏 Not just quietly supporting them either. Full support. Loud support. Borderline fan-club support.

We'll be applauding every scrum call, admiring every advantage played, and nodding approvingly at every whistle. If one of them finds themselves isolated after the game, there's a fair chance they'll be invited over for a drink and a photo.

To be fair, referees spend most weekends being the only people on the field with both teams unhappy with them, so it feels only right that, for one glorious Saturday afternoon, they know they have an entire Rams community in their corner.

We never thought we'd see the day... but here we are.

🏉 Old Boys Day 2026 🖤❤️🤍

What a fantastic day we shared at our annual Old Boys Day last weekend , Saturday, 18 July 2026!

It was wonderful to see past and present members of the Rams family come together to celebrate our club's proud history while supporting our teams on a big day of rugby for the club.

Our Under 11's and Under 18's took on the Brimbank Bucks, while our Under 14's faced the Moorabbin Rams. Every team represented the club with great spirit, determination and sportsmanship.

The day was capped off by our Senior Men, who played their final regular season match against the Melton Warriors. With second spot on the ladder and the right to host a semi-final on the line, the stakes couldn't have been higher. It was a fitting occasion for such an important game and another great chapter in our club's season.

A huge thank you to all our players, coaches, volunteers, members, sponsors and supporters who helped make the day so special. Old Boys Day is always a reminder that while teams and generations change, the Rams spirit remains strong.

Rugby Victoria is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 National Girls XV's Provincial Program.
This program provides an opportunity for female players to be considered for selection into the Victorian Under 16 and Under 18 Provincial XV's teams, who will represent the state at the National Girls XV's Championships in Sydney later this year.

Trial Details
📅 Date: Sunday, 9 August 2026
🕙 Time: 10:00am
📍 Venue: Footscray Rugby Club (Henry Turner South Reserve)

Eligibility

Under 16 Girls: Born in 2010 or 2011
Under 18 Girls: Born in 2008 or 2009
Selection into the Provincial squads will be based on performances throughout the trial and the subsequent training period. Final team selection will occur closer to the tournament.
