With more than 18 years of experience in equine reproduction and stud medicine, Dr. Stuart Brown has worked across virtually every aspect of the breeding industry, from large commercial studs to on-farm breeding programs and referral reproduction practice.

Stuart has extensive experience in all areas of equine reproduction, including reproductive examinations, breeding management, artificial insemination using both chilled and frozen semen, management of difficult or subfertile mares, pregnancy diagnosis and monitoring, foaling management, and neonatal foal care. His experience extends from preparing mares for breeding through to supporting foals from birth and throughout their early development.

Having spent many years working closely with thoroughbred studs, Stuart understands the importance of every stage of a young horse’s development. He works closely with breeders to help prepare their progeny for yearling and weanling sales, providing guidance on growth, nutrition, conformation, developmental orthopaedic conditions, limb development and overall management to ensure each horse has the best opportunity to reach its potential. From routine neonatal health checks through to monitoring young horses as they grow, Stuart enjoys working alongside breeders to maximise the success of both their horses and breeding programs.

At Golden Plains Equine, Stuart also performs stallion semen collection and processing, preparing chilled semen for transport as well as semen for use within the clinic’s breeding program. His practical experience with stallion management, semen handling and breeding logistics allows Golden Plains Equine to offer a comprehensive reproductive service for both mare and stallion owners.

Stuart enjoys building long-term relationships with breeders and takes pride in helping clients achieve successful pregnancies, healthy foals and positive breeding outcomes. Whether managing a maiden mare, a high-value performance broodmare or a commercial breeding operation, his focus is always on providing practical, evidence-based reproductive care tailored to each individual horse.

♥ FOALING DOWN ♥

Our favourite time of the year is nearly here. In 1 months time we can expect the first of the foals to be born for this season.

Once again we will be offering our foaling down service at GPE in our purpose built foaling down yards under 24/7 supervision. All of the mares and foals are examined after foaling, and the IgG of the foal is tested at 24 hours old to ensure they have absorbed enough antibodies from the mare.

We cannot wait to help welcome your foal into the world with a dedicated and experienced team at the clinic ready for your foals arrival any time during the day or night. Please call reception for a copy of the price list or contracts and to book your mare in.

After much anticipation and lots of enquires we are very happy to offer our first HALF PRICE gastroscope day for 2024.

❗️$150❗️HALF PRICE... Normally $300 ❗️

If you are concerned about your horses gastric health and suspect Gastric Ulcers may be contributing to poor performance or discomfort, this is the perfect opportunity for a comprehensive consult and scope, or a check up on how your current treatment is going.

❗️It is imperative that feed is withheld from your horse for 12-16 hours prior to the scheduled gastroscopy. Please also withdraw water for 4-5 hours prior to the scheduled gastroscopy. Make sure you turn off any automatic waterers.

❗️Overnight stabling is available at the clinic for $90 if you are unable to fast at home.

Your horse will require sedation immediately prior to the procedure. The actual gastroscopy procedure may take somewhere between 15 to 60 minutes to complete. The average time will be 20-25 minutes.

Please bring a USB stick with you so we are able to give you a copy of the scope recording.
