Geelong Reclink Powercats

Hey everyone unfortunately Corio Footy Ground has been made unavailable for the game tomorrow (due to ground works). We tried to get a back up ground but nothing is available at short notice.

We will be postponing tomorrow’s game for 2 weeks at tbc venue in Geelong.

Tomorrow we can do a training session at Corio still. We are just not allowed in the centre part of the ground.

Quick update on the Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues SuperCoach League for 2026.

Finals Weeks 1-2 saw us lose some big names, including our reigning premiers (Wes) and other PowerCats Brad & Dylan.

Week 3 and another perennial gun team Garry (Bendigo) was defeated in the Prelim Final.

So this coming Round will be the Grand Final, between the two best teams of the year in Corio Kings (Nick, Wynbay Tigers) and Doggy Style (Ross, Southern Pen Swans). Good Luck guys, hopefully there's a trade or two left to cover all the recent AFL injuries.

Another epic instalment in the recent rivalry between Sunbury Phoenix and Geelong PowerCats. Fantastic game went right down to the wire, with the accuracy of the PowerCats being the difference in the end.

Huge celebrations last week for Dazza in his 50th game.

Dazz has dominated the GenU Cats and more recently Geelong PowerCats forward lines since 2021, kicking countless goals and making a big impact on us all. Well done Dazz; we are looking forward to plenty more games to come.

Special shout-out to Dazza's support workers over this period, including Pete, Tammy, Abbs, Sammy, Blacky, Bryson, Teo, Matt and most recently Daniel. You've all done an amazing job wrangling the big fella and also managed to contribute to the Cats on field efforts along the way.

Melton Lions vs Geelong PowerCats, Round 8 of Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues.

Another really enjoyable match on Wednesday at Melton Rec Reserve, with both sides bringing the Reclink Spirit and plenty of examples of great sportsmanship throughout the game. Good to see a mix of new players and returning players and people stepping into new roles to cover for some unavailable big names.

Some highlights:

- Hot start by the PowerCats with Richie scoring the first 2 goals within a couple of minutes, setting up a 7-goal quarter.

- Milestone man Dazza in his 50th Cats game dominating the pre-game, the post-game and the forward line for a nice bag of 3 majors. Watch out for a separate post celebrating the big man in a few days.

- The Melton mid-field on top at various stages and contributing to a really competitive game, helping to keep all the vest players involved.

- Classy debut by David, a welcome return from new Mum Erin and a re-vamped mid-field featuring Colin with his first PowerCats goal.

Celebrating another couple of recent milestones.

A big congrats to Matty P (2023-2026) and Damo Z (2024-2026) for each reaching 25 games with the GenU Cats/Geelong PowerCats.

We've seen Matty develop from a running wingman into one of our midfield beasts who we rely on week in and week out to get the jobs done.

Meanwhile down back, our much-loved coach Damo controls the defence with intercept marking, precision kicking and fantastic organisational skills. At training and on game days Damo sets the standards with the right mix of professionalism and fun.

Thanks to both Matty and Damo for their contributions and hoping for plenty more to come.

Round 7 of the Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues and a massive marquee "Battle of the Bay" between the Geelong Reclink Powercats and our cross-bay rivals the Southern Peninsula Swans Reclink Football Team at the iconic Couta Bowl in Queenscliff. A really even performance from the Powercats, with everyone playing their role and the newer players especially really blending into the team beautifully.

Highlights:

- Fantastic game played with great sportsmanship and smiles all around.

- Special thanks to Ebony and Torrie for helping even up the numbers (on loan to Swans).

- Good spread of goal-kickers for the Powercats, with 11 of us hitting the scoreboard (including Eb's 150m-penalty goal for the Swans!)

- Great support from the sidelines with Empowered Liveability on board with goal umpiring and other duties, Meli helping on the bench and alumni Paul B on the BBQ.

- Thanks also to Bridget (Swans) for the majority of the in-game photos.
