Welcome Back, Pat!

Former First XI captain Pat Richards is returning to South Barwon for the 2026/27 season.

After three years away, we’re thrilled to welcome Pat back to Reynolds Oval. A classy top-order batter and former Country Week representative, Pat brings outstanding quality and experience to our club.

In his last season in the green and gold, Pat led the way with the bat, claiming the First XI Batting Average Award, and we’re excited to see him once again playing a key role for the Swans this summer.

Please join us in welcoming Pat, Emily and the entire Richards family back to South Barwon Cricket Club. We can’t wait to see them back in the green and gold!

RECRUITMENT NEWS | WELCOME BACK, KB!

Just as winter winds down, the Swans are winding up, with Kyle Bienefelt returning to Reynolds Oval this summer.

Kyle returns to South Barwon following an excellent season with Geelong Cricket Club where he claimed 29 wickets and averaged more than 23 with the bat.

It is incredibly exciting to welcome Kyle, a long time player for the Swans, back to SBCC after spending the past few years in England and at Premier Cricket.

His all-round class with bat, ball and in the field will add significant strength to our club, and we cannot wait to see him back in the green and gold this summer.

Welcome back, KB!

It’s been a busy week hitting the pavement for the Swans, with Lachie Lamb and Lachie Read joining Natta Blyth as he takes on the incredible challenge of 7 marathons in 7 days for the 1 Million Pledge.

It’s an enormous effort from Blythy, and it’s been fantastic to see a couple of fellow Swans getting alongside him and helping him clock up the kilometres.

If you’d like to support this great cause without having to lace up the runners yourself, you can donate via the link in our bio or in the comments. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference and help support those in need.

Let’s get right behind Natta over the next few days as he completes this massive challenge!

💚💛

Welcome, Emily Murray!

In more great news ahead of the 2026/27 season, we are thrilled to announce the signing of our second overseas player for our women’s program, Emily Murray.

Emily joins the Swans from Lindow Cricket Club and is also a regular member of the Cheshire Women’s Cricket team. She becomes the fourth player from the Cheshire program to pull on the green and gold, following Emily Page, Grace Michell and fellow 2026/27 overseas player Amy Seddon.

Emily is a hard-hitting batter who isn’t afraid to take on opposition bowling attacks, while also offering plenty with the ball as a right-arm off-spin bowler.

We look forward to welcoming Emily to South Barwon in September and can’t wait to see her in action for the Swans this season.

Welcome to South Barwon, Emily!

For our first captaincy announcements of the 2026/27 season, we’re thrilled to share that Amy Seddon will captain our A Grade side, with Hannah Trimble working alongside her as Vice Captain.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have a player of Amy’s experience at SBCC, and we’re looking forward to seeing her share that wealth of cricket knowledge as captain this season.

It’s also fantastic to have a day-one Swan like Hannah in a leadership role alongside Amy. Hannah has been an integral part of our women’s program for a number of years, and her team-first attitude, commitment and care for the group make her a person to help lead our A Grade side.

It’s shaping up to be an exciting season for the Swans. Pre-season kicks off tomorrow 1pm at BVAC, and we can’t wait to get into it!

Last night, our 2026/27 committee was elected.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Simon and thank him for his outstanding eight years as President of South Barwon Cricket Club. Eight years represents an enormous commitment of time, energy and effort, and our club is stronger because of the dedication he has shown throughout his presidency.

Under Simon’s leadership, we have seen significant upgrades across our facilities, leaving a lasting legacy that reflects everything he has contributed to the club. We are also very pleased that Simon will remain involved as Vice President and continue supporting the club moving forward.

We would also like to welcome our new committee members, Lachie Read, Joe Anticev and Fletcher Russell, as well as Andrew Ross and Nick Butters, who are returning to the committee.

Finally, thank you to everyone for your continued support. We cannot wait to get started.

Go Swans! - JFF

Recruitment News

We’re excited to announce that Ben Burdett will be joining South Barwon for the 2026/27 season.

Hailing from Woodhouse Grange Cricket Club in Yorkshire, England, Ben is a talented middle-order batsman. Some of you may even remember him joining us for one of our Reverse Raffles a few years ago!

Ben joins a growing list of past and present Woodhouse Grange players to pull on the green and gold, following in the footsteps of Rich Walton, Clay Mulgrew, Tom Neal, Harry Gamble and, for a brief stint, even Jim Hattee!

Ben and his partner, Siadhbh, will be making the move to Australia in September and are planning to call Geelong home for the next little while. We’re looking forward to welcoming them both into the South Barwon community and can't wait to see Ben out in the middle this season.

Please join us in giving Ben and Siadhbh a very warm South Barwon welcome! 💚💛
