Your setup could be the reason you’re struggling to move correctly in your golf swing.

A first-time student came in this week and after his TPI screen, we jumped onto the Smart2Move® force plates to find out what was really going on.

The data immediately highlighted the problem.

At setup: 21% lead side / 79% trail side.

As I said to him:

“How can you move into a position you’re already in?”

We changed his setup to 60% lead side and instantly created a much better pressure shift into his trail side during the backswing.

One simple setup change. A completely different movement pattern and a club head speed increase of 4mph.

This is why we measure instead of guessing.

The best golf swings are built on great fundamentals not constant swing thoughts.

Before worrying about mechanics, make sure your setup is giving you the best chance to succeed.

Simple checkpoints like your distance from the ball, posture, alignment, and target awareness create consistency before the club even starts moving.

As these fundamentals become automatic, your focus can shift to smarter targets, tighter dispersion, and more confident ex*****on on the course.

At Canberra Golf Studio, we help golfers build repeatable habits from the ground up because better preparation leads to better performance. Master the basics. Trust your process. Play your best golf.

How fast are our putting greens at Canberra Golf Studio?

One of the questions I get asked all the time is how we maintain our putting greens and how we know exactly how fast they’re running.

Just like a golf course, we regularly roll and test our greens to keep them consistent, with our target sitting at around 11 on the Stimp.

Today’s reading? 10 feet 11 inches.

That gives you a quality surface to work on your pace control, start line and confidence on faster greens rather than simply hitting putts without knowing what you’re practising on.

Hitting great shots is only part of the equation.

Consistently scoring lower comes from controlling where the golf ball finishes.

In this session, we’re shifting the focus beyond solid contact and into what really impacts performance on the course shot patterns, target orientation, dispersion, and greens in regulation.

The goal isn’t just to hit good shots. It’s to make your misses more predictable, improve your decision-making, and give yourself more scoring opportunities every round.

At Canberra Golf Studio, we use objective data to turn practice into measurable improvement so every session has a purpose and every swing moves you closer to lower scores.
Train with intention. Measure your progress. Play better golf.

Ever wondered why your golf ball keeps curving left or right even when your swing feels good?

One of the biggest answers can be found in Face to Path.

Face to Path measures the relationship between where your clubface is pointing and the direction your clubhead is travelling at impact.

For a right-handed golfer:

➡️ Face open to the path = fade / slice
⬅️ Face closed to the path = draw / hook

And the bigger that difference becomes, the more potential there is for the golf ball to curve.

This is why simply trying to “fix your swing path” isn't always the answer.

You need to understand what the clubface is doing relative to that path.

At Canberra Golf Studio, we use TrackMan to identify exactly what is happening at impact so instead of guessing at your swing, we can identify why your ball is actually flying the way it is.

Once you understand the cause, you can start working on the right solution.

Stop guessing. Understand your numbers. Control your ball flight.

Most golfers think their swing path determines where the ball starts

❌ It doesn’t.

With an iron, the clubface accounts for 75% of your ball’s starting direction.

So if you’re constantly missing left or right of your target, the position of your clubface at impact is likely the biggest reason.

At Canberra Golf Studio, we don’t guess we measure it.

Using TrackMan, we’ll show you exactly what your clubface is doing at impact, explain how it’s affecting your ball flight, and build a plan to help you hit more greens to lower your score.

Stop guessing. Start measuring.

Club path only plays a small role in where your golf ball starts.
Many golfers are told to “fix their path,” but that’s only one piece of the puzzle.

Ball flight is influenced by several impact factors, including:
🏌️ Club face direction
🏌️ Club path
🏌️ Face-to-path relationship
🏌️ Strike location

At Canberra Golf Studio, we measure every one of these using Tour-level technology, so you’re no longer guessing why you’re missing fairways or greens we can show you exactly what’s happening at impact and, more importantly, how to fix it.

If you’re constantly missing your target or struggling to hit more greens in regulation, it’s time to stop guessing.
Book a Studio Visit today and let us identify exactly what’s costing you accuracy.

The fastest way to improve isn’t changing your swing it’s understanding what the club is actually doing at impact.
