🐊2ND XI CAPTAIN ANNOUNCEMENT 2026/27🐊

We’re excited to announce Eraj Wimalaratna as our 2nd XI Captain for the 2026/27 season!

Eraj has been around the Swamp for many years and has become a highly valued and respected member of our senior playing group. Beyond his performances on field, Eraj brings a wealth of cricketing knowledge and experience to the club. He has always been willing to share that knowledge with those around him, particularly our younger players and the next generation of pace bowlers coming through the senior ranks.

This season, Eraj will take that experience into a new role as captain of our 2nd XI. With the side playing an important part in the development of our younger Gators, we’re excited to have someone with Eraj’s experience leading the group and helping our players continue to develop their game. It is Eraj’s second stint as 2nd XI after previously captaining in the 14/15 & 15/16 seasons.

We would also like to say a massive congratulations and thank you to outgoing premiership captain Jeff Hunt. As well as leading the 2nd XI to a premiership in the 23/24 season, Jeff also took them to a finals berth in Decoite Reserve, and has helped mentor and develop a large number of our younger players.

We’re looking forward to seeing Eraj take on this next challenge, put his own stamp on the side and lead the 2XI throughout the 2026/27 season. Congratulations Eraj, we can’t wait to see you leading the boys out at the Swamp this summer!🐊

🐊CAKE STALL - NEXT SATURDAY 5/9!🐊

The Gators are heading to Bunnings Scoresby next Saturday, 5th September for our Mountain Gate Cricket Club Cake Stall! And with Father’s Day the very next day, it’s the perfect chance to pick up something sweet for Dad! We’ll have plenty of homemade goodies available throughout the day, including cupcakes, slices, cookies, cake pops, father’s day themed treats and plenty more!

🐊1ST XI CAPTAIN & CLUB COACH – SEASON 2026/27🐊
 
We’re very excited to announce that Shaun Daniels will once again lead the club as our Club Coach for Season 2026/27, while also stepping into the role of 1st XI Captain!
 
Since arriving at the Swamp, Shaun has quickly become a much-loved and highly respected member of our club. His knowledge of the game, leadership and genuine commitment to helping those around him have made a huge impact across our playing group.

Shaun’s approachable nature and ability to connect with players of all ages and abilities has helped create a positive and inclusive environment around the club. Whether it’s at training, on game day or around the rooms, he is always willing to offer advice, encouragement and plenty of laughs along the way.
 
This season, Shaun will take on an even bigger role, combining his position as Club Coach with the captaincy of our 1XI. We’re excited to see him lead from the front and continue to drive the standards, development and culture of our senior program.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Kev Atacador for his work and commitment over the past few seasons as our 1st XI Captain. Kev has put an enormous amount into the role and has led the group with plenty of passion and dedication over the last few years!

We’re incredibly grateful for everything Kev has contributed as captain and look forward to having both Kev and Shaun continuing to play important roles around the club!

A huge congratulations to Nakoa Beswick on being awarded the Steve Farrall Award, a fantastic recognition of his dedication, commitment and outstanding attitude throughout the season.
 
As part of this achievement, Nakoa also had the opportunity to attend the Topline Cricket Development Program, where he trained alongside other talented young cricketers, developing his skills and learning from experienced coaches.
