We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with our Fawkner Tennis Club community — the appointment of a new coach to our team, Matt Gregory of Matt Gregory Tennis!

Many of you already know and value the incredible work of Chanchai Sookton-Eng, whose passion, experience, and commitment have made a lasting impact on players across all levels. Now, we’re delighted to complement that expertise with the addition of Matt, creating a truly dynamic coaching team.

Matt Gregory is a leading tennis coach in Melbourne and head of Matt Gregory Tennis. Recognised as Tennis Victoria’s Community Champion (May 2026), Matt brings over 20 years of coaching experience, working with players ranging from complete beginners through to elite touring professionals. His ability to develop players of all ages and skill levels — combined with his particularly strong work with children — makes him a fantastic addition to our program.
Importantly, Matt brings with him an entire academy of coaches, including his wife, Varatchaya “Pias” Wongteanchai (former WTA Doubles World No. 77), along with several other high-calibre coaching professionals. This significantly enhances the depth, quality, and opportunities within our coaching program.

With established coaching operations across multiple venues, Matt has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, engaging, and development-focused coaching environments.

Together, Matt and Chanchai form a winning combination — blending high-performance knowledge, inclusive coaching, and a shared passion for growing the game at all levels.
