NEXT THURSDAY — our All-Inclusive Gym officially opens to the public!

This space has been created for people who have never quite felt comfortable, confident or supported in a traditional gym environment.

No intimidating crowds. No waiting around for equipment. No feeling like you don’t belong.

Our gym is an intimate, sensory-friendly space where people of all abilities can train alongside one another, at their own pace and in their own way.

Because workouts are booked, numbers in the gym are kept small — meaning you’re never trying to navigate an overcrowded space or waiting for the equipment you need.

And if you need a little extra support, our Allied Health Assistants are right there.

They can help guide you through your program, assist with transfers, adapt exercises where needed and, most importantly, be your hype person while you train.

Then when the workout is done? You can take your recovery to the next level with our infrared sauna, ice bath or Normatec compression therapy.

A gym designed around accessibility, comfort, inclusion and belonging.

Because the gym should be a space for every body.

Doors officially open next Thursday, 3 September.

We cannot wait to welcome you in! 💙🧡

Sport? Music? Geography? Movies? or something completely random that you somehow know everything about?

We’ve been asking our TNS community what they would ace in, most answers are no surprise 😆

Now your turn … Think you’ve got what it takes to put your knowledge to the test?

Join us for our upcoming Trivia Night for a night of laughs and friendly competition while supporting an amazing cause 🌟

Grab your tickets and get your team together - you won’t want to miss it!!

Hold onto your people. Literally!

Recovery takes strength, determination, a whole lot of trust… and apparently occasionally wrapping your Exercise Physiologist in a full-body hug.

Mitch assisting Lenny with standing is proof that sometimes the best support system is the one you can physically hang onto. 😂

At The Next Step, we’ll meet you where you’re at, celebrate every win, and hold you up when you need it… even if things get a little too close for comfort.

Find your people. Trust your people. Hold onto your people. 💙🧡

We’ve got a couple of big weeks coming up at The Next Step!

First up… TRIVIA NIGHT! 🧠🍻
Wednesday 26th August at Moon Dog World.

Grab your mates, put together a team and come have a laugh with us while helping raise some funds for The Next Step.

There’ll be prizes, food, drinks and hopefully some questionable trivia knowledge 😂

Then on Thursday 3rd September, we’re opening the doors for our Open Day + the official opening of our new All-Inclusive Gym & Recovery Zone! 🎉

Come down, have a look around, meet the team, check out the new space and see what we’ve been working on. We’ll have facility tours, workshops and plenty happening throughout the day.

And as always at The Next Step… everyone is welcome. 🧡

Pop both dates in the calendar and come hang out with us!

Today, we had the privilege of welcoming Professor James St John from Griffith University to The Next Step to share the latest updates on the world’s first Nerve Bridge Clinical Trial for spinal cord injury.

After years of research, planning and refining the process, it finally feels like we’re talking about when, not if.

Some of the biggest updates from today’s session:

• First participants are expected to begin pre-screening later this year, with the first transplants planned for early next year.

• More than 700 people have already registered their Expression of Interest.

• The treatment uses a person’s own cells from inside their nose to create a nerve bridge that is implanted into the spinal cord.

• Rehabilitation before and after surgery will be a vital part of the trial, with programs tailored to each participant.

• Every delay has been about improving safety and giving participants the best possible treatment.

Today was a reminder that while there’s still a long road ahead, real progress is being made, and that’s something worth feeling hopeful about.

A huge thank you to Professor James St John for taking the time to answer our community’s questions so openly, and thank you to everyone who joined us today.
