At our home track today for the Mackay and District BMX Club Inc Exhausted in August carnival! 🏁

Thursday night saw us back at our home track in Mackay with only Charlotte and Harrison racing. We originally were going to have the night off but Charlotte decided she wanted to race!. She was the only sprocket girl and had to race with the boys and boy did she go!. Some awesome first straights where she was passing 3 or 4 of the boys before the 1st berm was awesome to watch!. She had a small crash when she slipped her pedals in her 5th moto so she decided to miss her last race of the night due to her sore arm. It gave Harrison another chance to race which he was very happy to be out there. He has gained more balance and confidence after Pine rivers and was trying to go down the jumps by himself. Dad was there to catch him at the bottom so he wouldn’t stack it. It was a fun night for them both!. Now we move onto our local carnival for the year next weekend!

Round 5 & 6 of QLD state series last weekend down at Pine Rivers BMX in Brisbane!. Jaxon rode well against a tough field especially on Saturday at Rnd 5 as it was also the Mighty 11s qualifier event as well where he went up against 26 others. Sunday was good with abit smaller field and he just missed the semi by 3 points. Overall he finished 10th in the state series out of 36 riders. Charlotte had a great weekend of racing getting better every race while excited cause she now has a new helmet that she can do up all by herself now. Dan had a good weekend, had a small field in his group and rode well all weekend. Unfortunately he got pipped at the post on the last day and ended up coming second overall in the series. Our newest racer to hit the track had a great time on track while being helped around by both mum and dad!. Think he was more excited when he got his medallions and prizes each day!!!.

Round 5 QLD state series today 🏁🏁

All loaded up ready to head off tommorrow down to Brisbane for the last two rounds of QLD state series at Pine Rivers BMX in Brendale on Saturday and Sunday!. This time all four of us hit the track!. Looking forward to a great weekend of racing and catching up with our southern family and friends!!

And then there is four of us now!. Little Harrison made his mini wheeler debut last week after having his second birthday the weekend before!. He was so excited to put his jersey that Charlotte gave him and so excited to line up on the gate. After quite a few laps and excited squeals on the jumps we had a very happy and worn out boy!.

Saturday saw us venture down to Sarina for a mid holiday gates session. It was very beneficial to us getting Charlottes confidence back up on bigger start hills after Cairns a few weeks ago. We had her back up to the top taking off down the hill again after a few attempts from various heights to begin with. Jaxon did what seemed to be a million laps in the couple of hours it was on. Dan took both the cruiser and the 20inch bike to get used to riding both on the same time.. he has only raced the cruiser up until now. It was good for us all to get back on the bikes after a few weeks off. Unfortunately gates in Mackay yesterday got cancelled due to rain falling all day.

Back at home and all unpacked after a wild wet weekend in Cairns for last weekends QLD state series rounds 3 and 4!. After two nights of practice, wet and windy conditions greeted us on Saturday just in time for racing to begin. Jaxon rode well both days while battling a small knee injury just missing finals both days but building his confidence each lap. Charlotte after the two practice sessions was very nervous as the gate in cairns is a lot bigger and steeper than she was used to which made for some hairy moments during the two practice sessions. But with the weather playing a factor the sprockets were able to start on the hill abit further down which helped her confidence. She had a wonderful time racing, getting herself a win in one race and having a small stack in another but she got up smiling and had an awesome time making new friends and catching up with her friend Asher from Bayside club!. Dan had a great weekend in his class which was merged with a few others due to low numbers. He won one race of his age group on Saturday and came extremely close to having a major crash on Sunday having to jump over another rider when two came together and slid down the berm in front of him. One of the fallen rider’s bikes handlebars hit his left shoe causing it to unclip from the pedal and still somehow managed to stay upright at the time!!. But overall this weekend has now put him top of points for the state series with one more weekend to go at Pine Rivers down in Brisbane in August. Now it’s time to service all the bikes after riding in the wet ready for some more local racing before we travel again in August.

A busy few little weeks of late. Kids have been putting in the hard yards trying to improve spending lots of time on the bikes and the exercise bike. Jaxon has been trying to lower his PB again and riding with a lot more confidence!. Charlotte has the confidence sorted and is now enjoying jumping everything she can and doing wheelies. Dan has been back on the bike the last two weeks after another small injury scare, the first week went well by breaking another left clip shoe and had to resort back to the flat pedals for this week which felt very alien to ride on flats again! Now just completing a few small jobs on the trailer today and pack it ready to venture off to Cairns this Thursday for Rnd 3 and 4 of the QLD state series next weekend!
