๐พ THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE JDS โค๏ธ ๐พ
A successful JDS doesnโt just happen because of the players on court. It takes a small army of amazing people behind the scenes โ and this weekend, our volunteers absolutely smashed it! ๐
To all the parents who gave up their time to set up gazebos, pull out chairs, jump on the BBQ, help in the canteen and pitch in wherever needed โ thank you! Your help is valued more than you know. โค๏ธ
A special thank you to:
๐พ Vince โ for coming out for the weekend and taking on the important job of officiating. We really appreciate you giving up your weekend to help our players.
๐พ Jill & Ben โ for court supervising, keeping an eye on things and helping our kids have fair and enjoyable matches.
๐พ Mrs Jett โ for running our Under 10 officiating program and wrangling our more experienced players to get out on court and help our younger, less experienced players. What a great way to teach our kids that tennis is about more than just winning! ๐
๐พ Elly โ our canteen queen ๐ โ for managing the canteen, keeping everything stocked up and, of course, making sure the prosecco glasses were topped up on Saturday night! ๐ฅ๐
๐พ The Smyth Family โ Linda for organising all the food for the weekend and Kim for the early morning bacon and egg muffin BBQs and the lunchtime BBQs. Keeping everyone fed is no small job! ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ณโค๏ธ
๐พ Joe & Bora โ who stepped up as part of their Emerging Leaders course, helping with tournament directing and officiating throughout the weekend. ๐๐พ
๐พ Lesley โ for coordinating, helping wherever needed, getting our Mindset Challenge happening for the players and keeping things moving behind the scenes โ plus finding time for a little MasterChef action with the butter chicken and pulled pork! ๐ฉโ๐ณ๐
๐พ Mrs Simpson โ for being behind the camera and capturing all those special moments from the weekend. ๐ธโค๏ธ
๐พ Donna โ our super Tournament Director! ๐
47 players.
130+ matches.
10 courts.
One very busy weekend.
And somehow she survived the constant chorus of โWhen is my next match?โ without her brain completely exploding! ๐๐
And finally, an honourable mention to Dane and Mr Declan (AKA Tim Nelson) for stepping in to umpire two sibling matches that had a very real potential to go pear-shaped! ๐๐พ๐
To every single person who helped, whether you were here for the whole weekend or just jumped in when needed โ THANK YOU.
You are what makes our JDS more than just a tennis tournament. You help create a place where our kids can compete, learn, make friends and have fun. โค๏ธ
We couldnโt do it without you! ๐พ๐

๐ง MINDSET MATTERS: TALK TO YOURSELF LIKE A CHAMPION ๐พ
What you say to yourself on court matters.
When you make a mistake, lose a point or start feeling nervous, change the conversation in your head.
Instead of: โIโm playing terrible.โ
Try: โNext point.โ
Instead of: โI canโt do this.โ
Try: โI can do this.โ
Instead of: โIโm too far behind.โ
Try: โOne point at a time.โ
Instead of getting frustratedโฆ
โBreathe and reset.โ
๐ฌ Your inner voice is your biggest supporter.
Try these on court:
๐พ Next point.
๐ช I can do this.
๐ฏ Stay with it.
๐พ One point at a time.
๐ Keep going.
๐ฌ๏ธ Breathe and reset.
You donโt have to feel confident to talk confidently.
Talk to yourself like someone you believe in. ๐๐พ

๐พ EMERALD JDS STARTS TODAY! ๐
Our Sportsmanship Pillar is MINDSET ๐ง
Mindset is all about how players respond on court โ staying calm, believing in themselves, focusing on the next point, making smart choices, and keeping going when things get tough.
Itโs not about playing the perfect match. Itโs about showing resilience, confidence and a positive attitude throughout the day.

Letโs celebrate the players who show us that how you play the game matters just as much as the result. ๐๐พ
