We asked Juanita a few questions about Pilates, life and what keeps her coming back to the Empower studio.

There’s so much more to Juanita’s story. Follow along through the captions to hear about her unexpected diagnosis, her recovery, and the strength she found in reconnecting with her body.

For context I started Empower once i had the sign off to start moving my body again. Feb last year i had a hysterectomy (with 1 weeks notice) that turned in to so much more, they found a tumor and my world was turned totally upside down.

For a while there i was putting on a great face but so deeply angry thay my body had betrayed me so much. I had done all the things expected of me, had the babies, raised a family, powered through with my career. And here i was in a body that i didnt recognise and felt so disconnected from.

From Jan 2025 until now i have lost 17kgs, that is purely from moving my body and having the confidence to make food choices that support my physical health.

The instructors at Empower are all inspiring, there isnt a single one that i wouldnt take a class from. Everytime i leave feeling motivated and proud of myself for showing up.
