Jack McHale - 100 Senior Games

This week Jack “Jocka” McHale plays his 100th senior game for the Echuca Football Club. It’s hard to put into words what Jocka means to us but we’ll give it our best shot.

Coming over from Moama into our under 18’s side, it quickly became apparent that Jack would be an important piece in our senior team’s success for the long term. And hasn’t he been just that.

One of the first players picked every week, Jocka has transformed from a tough half backer who pinch hit in the midfield to one of the most prolific ball winners in the league. The whole team stands taller when Jock lines up at the centre bounce with the knowledge that it’s not going the other way without a fight. He played a vital role in our premiership sides and there’s little doubt that we wouldn’t have been as successful without his courage and leadership.

After his career best 2024, which saw him awarded our best and fairest award, he was ultimately annouced co-captain with Mitch Wales. Jack was unfortunately struck down with an ACL injury at the start of last year, but all this did was highlight his incredible resilience and ability to keep the group together, even without playing. Watching all of his hard work culminate in his return from injury this year brought a tear to everyone’s eye and he has quickly returned to his best.

We count our lucky stars to call Jocka a teammate, a club mate and a friend.

The only thing bigger than this blokes biceps is his heart.
