“I just want my legs to feel lighter.”

It’s something I hear from people, and I completely understand what they mean.

It isn’t necessarily pain. Sometimes their legs or ankles simply feel heavy, puffy, full or uncomfortable, and they’d just like to feel more comfortable moving through their day.

There can be many reasons our legs feel this way, so I never like to assume that everyone is experiencing the same thing.

But this is one of the reasons I find the lymphatic system so interesting.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialised technique designed to encourage the movement of fluid through the lymphatic system.

And if you’re used to deep tissue massage, it can feel quite different.

The movements are slow and rhythmic, using consistent pressure rather than the deeper, targeted muscle pressure you might associate with deep tissue massage.

For me, it’s not about promising some dramatic overnight transformation.

Sometimes what someone wants is much simpler...

To feel more comfortable in their body.

To feel a little more at ease.

And yes, for some, to have that lovely feeling of lighter legs. ❤️

If your legs or ankles regularly feel heavy or puffy, it’s worth understanding what may be behind it rather than simply putting up with the feeling.

Have you ever experienced that heavy, full feeling in your legs?

What if $50 could support 23 different charities… and give you the chance to win a brand-new car? 🚗❤️

That’s exactly why I’ve already bought $200 worth of tickets myself! 😄

The BNI Charity Collective is bringing together 23 different charities, with funds raised being shared amongst them.

And I’ve decided to add a little something from me too. ❤️

If you purchase the 5 tickets for $200 option, I’ll give you 10% off one of my new lymphatic method packages launching in November.

These new packages will bring together lymphatic massage, aromatherapy, infrared heat, PEMF, ASEA products and relaxing eye massage tools to create a complete experience over a few months.

So with the $200 option:

❤️ You’re supporting 23 charities

These beautiful flowers arrived from my loved ones after my thyroid operation and honestly, they really are some of the prettiest flowers I’ve ever received. They’ve cheered me up heaps! 🌸

Much love to Lauren and Alister for such a beautiful surprise. ❤️

And a little update for everyone who knew I was having the operation... I’m recovering well and everything is very much going to plan. ❤️‍🩹

My neck is still looking a little swollen, but that’s all part of the recovery stage, so I’m resting and taking things slowly for a while.

The biggest challenge?

I can’t talk too much! 😂

And as most of you know, that’s quite a bummer for me!

So if you fancy a chat or want to check in, texting is definitely the way to go for now. 😄

Thank you as well to everyone who has sent messages, checked in or simply had me in their thoughts. It really does mean a lot.

For now, I’ll be behaving myself, resting, recovering and enjoying my gorgeous flowers. 🌸❤️

There are certainly things that change as we get older. I think we all discover that sooner or later!

But I don’t think getting older means we have to stop doing the things that make us feel good, make us laugh, or give us something to look forward to.

Sometimes we can be very quick to tell ourselves...

“I’m too old for that.”

“I couldn’t do that now.”

“Those days are behind me.”

And yes, sometimes we do need to listen to our bodies and do things a little differently.

But differently doesn’t have to mean not at all.

We can adapt.

We can find new ways to move.

We can try something we’ve never done before.

We can spend time with people who make us laugh and keep doing the things that make life enjoyable.

I certainly don’t plan on sitting still anytime soon! 😄

Getting older is happening to all of us.

We may as well keep enjoying ourselves while we’re doing it.

What’s something you still absolutely love doing, no matter your age?

Be honest... if nobody was telling you that you should exercise, what would you actually choose to do? 😄

Would you rather...

🏊‍♀️ A. Swimming or an Aqua class
🚶‍♀️ B. A good walk
💃 C. Dancing
🌿 D. Gardening

I think we sometimes make movement sound far too serious.

It has to be a workout.
It has to be a certain number of steps.
It has to leave us feeling as though we’ve really done something.

But what about simply moving because we enjoy it?

A swim because you love being in the water.

A walk because you fancy some fresh air.

Putting some music on and having a dance around the house.

Or spending an afternoon in the garden and suddenly realising you’ve barely sat down. 😄

There are so many ways to get our bodies moving, and I think finding something we genuinely enjoy makes such a difference.

So, Friday question...

Which one are you: A, B, C or D?

And if your favourite isn’t there, tell me what I’ve missed! 😄

Why do our legs sometimes feel heavy?

It’s something people mention to me quite often.

Sometimes you may notice that heavy feeling after you’ve been sitting or standing for a long time. Other times, you may simply notice that your legs feel different at another point in the day.

And that’s an important point, because there isn’t one particular time of day when everyone experiences heaviness or swelling.

Our bodies are all different, and there can be many reasons why our legs may feel heavy.

Movement also plays an important role in supporting the normal movement of lymph through the body. Unlike our blood circulation, the lymphatic system doesn’t have a central pump like the heart, so muscle movement helps lymph move through the lymphatic system.

It’s one of the reasons I think it’s so important to become more aware of what our own body is telling us, rather than assuming everyone experiences the same thing.

When do you tend to notice your legs feeling heavier?

Is it after sitting, standing or being on your feet for long periods, or do you notice it at other times too? 😄

Monday always seems to arrive rather quickly, doesn’t it? 😄

Before you know it, the diary starts filling up, there are people to call, things that need doing, places to be... and suddenly another week is underway.

I was thinking about this because sometimes the things we actually enjoy are the easiest things to put off.

We say, “I’ll go for that walk later.”

“I’ll ring them when I have more time.”

“I’ll get back to that class next week.”

And somehow, later keeps moving. 😄

I don’t think looking after ourselves always needs to mean adding another big thing to the list.

Sometimes it’s simply making a little room for something that makes us feel good.

A walk outside. Seeing someone you love. Moving your body. Getting back to something you’ve missed. Or even just having an hour where nobody needs anything from you.

So before this week gets too busy, I thought I’d ask...

What’s one thing you’d really like to make time for this week?

Mine might be __ 😄

Why is lymphatic massage so unique?

It’s something people can find quite surprising, especially if they’re used to deep tissue massage, which can often be sore and involves much firmer, deeper, targeted muscle pressure.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is different. It is not focused on the muscles. It is focused on the lymphatic system, which is part of your immunity and hence very important.

The movements use deliberately consistent pressure and are slow and rhythmic because the technique is designed to support the natural movement of lymph rather than work deeply into the muscles.

So if you’re suffering from heavier legs, tiredness or brain fog, then come and try a Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage, which can have great results immediately after a 1-hour session and does feel very different from a deep tissue muscle massage. 😄

But that uniqueness isn’t because “nothing is happening.”

It’s actually part of how the technique is intended to be performed.

I think this is an important distinction because we can sometimes associate stronger, deeper pressure with a more effective treatment, when really, different types of bodywork are designed for different purposes.

Sometimes the different technique and touch are there for a reason.

Are you struggling with any of these symptoms? Let’s have an informal chat and discuss your symptoms.

Who could you check in on today?

With R U OK? Day tomorrow, it got me thinking about the people in our lives we haven’t spoken to for a little while.

Sometimes someone simply pops into your mind.

And rather than thinking, “I must give them a call sometime,” perhaps that’s the moment to actually do it.

You don’t need to have the perfect words or know whether something is wrong.

A simple...

“How are you going?”

“I was thinking about you.”

“Fancy a chat?”
..can be enough to open a conversation.

We’re all busy, and it’s very easy to assume that everyone around us is doing okay.

But sometimes a phone call, a message or a genuine check-in can mean much more than we realise.

So today, I’m keeping this one simple.

Who’s one person you could check in on?

Maybe give them a call. 😄

When was the last time you actually checked in with how your body feels? Not because something was wrong. Just to notice....

When was the last time you actually checked in with how your body feels?

Not because something was wrong. Just to notice.

We’re usually very good at carrying on with our day, getting things done and adjusting without really thinking about it.

Then every now and again we notice we’re a little stiffer, carrying more tension, moving differently or simply not feeling quite ourselves.

I think there’s something to be said for noticing the quieter signs rather than only paying attention when our body really demands it.

It doesn’t have to be complicated either.

How am I moving today?
Where am I holding tension?
What feels good?
What feels different?

Sometimes simply paying attention is a good place to start. 😄

What does your body usually tell you when it’s time to slow down or look after yourself a little more?
