One of the greatest lessons horses teach us is the power of being present.
For us, slowing down, letting go of yesterday and not worrying about tomorrow can be hard.
For a horse, it’s just natural.
They live in the moment — feeling, listening, responding and trusting what’s right in front of them.
Maybe there’s a lesson in that for all of us…
Be present, Enjoy the ride.
Your horse doesn't know your big show is in two weeks. It doesn't know what your last run looked like or worry about the next one. It's just here, today, same as always...
We spend so much mental energy split between what already happened and what might happen next that we're rarely fully where we actually are. Your horse never has that problem.
Spending time with a horse is one of the few places that gap gets to close, if you let it. Not because the horse is teaching you something mystical, but because it simply won't meet you anywhere except right now.
With your show close, this is worth practicing on purpose: Can you actually be here, today, instead of already living in next week's run?
