NEWTOWN PRE-SEASON + FATHER’S DAY CLUB AFTERNOON

We’re back again this Saturday for another big Newtown pre-season session as we continue building towards the 2026/27 season.

Training will run from 2:00pm–4:00pm at Bob Dowling Field, with another strong focus on quality cricket work, team standards and preparing properly for the season ahead.

This weekend will also be a special one for the club as we celebrate Father’s Day.

We’d love to welcome all dads of our junior players down to training to watch the session, see how the club is shaping and spend some time around the club.

We’re also inviting the kids of our senior players and dads to come down, enjoy a Saturday in the sun and be part of the afternoon as we welcome spring and celebrate the great fathers who help make Newtown what it is.

It will also be a chance to remember and acknowledge the fathers and club people who have gone before us and helped build the foundations of the great club we have today.

Following training, we’d love everyone to continue the afternoon together with players, partners and families at our major sponsor, the South Dubbo Tavern, for dinner from 6:00pm.

So get the cricket gear ready, bring the family and come down for what should be a great Newtown Saturday.

Dubbo Newtown Cricket Club is now taking registrations for the 2026/27 senior season, with plans to field teams in 1st Grade, 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade.

Whether you’re returning for another year, new to the area, or looking to get back into cricket, we’d love to have you involved with the Tigers this season.

Senior Registration: $380.59
This includes your playing uniform for the season.

Pre-season training is now underway every Saturday from 2:00–4:00pm and will continue each week through to the start of the season.

Registering early will help us lock in numbers, plan our teams and continue building towards the season ahead.

Dubbo Newtown Cricket Club will celebrate 60 years of history on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th February 2027.

This will be a special weekend to bring together past and present players, families, supporters and friends of the club as we celebrate the people, teams, stories and memories that have shaped Newtown since 1966.

We want to see Tigers from every era come back together, reconnect with old teammates and help us celebrate six decades of Newtown Cricket Club.

So for now, save the date and start spreading the word.

Share this event with your friends, old teammates, former coaches and anyone who has been part of the Newtown story over the past 60 years.

🏏 Pre-Season Returns This Saturday! 🏏

After last week’s washout, Dubbo Newtown Cricket Club is back into pre-season this Saturday as we continue building towards the 2026/27 season.

This week’s session will have a stronger focus on match scenarios, decision-making and fielding, giving players the chance to work through game-like situations and sharpen up before the season gets underway.

Expect plenty of competitive work, pressure situations and team-based fielding as we continue to build our standards across the senior group.

All senior players, along with any juniors looking to push into grade cricket this season, are encouraged to get down and get involved.

All time favourite cricketer: Adam ‘churchy’ Gilchrist

Greatest career highlight: Got heaps! Put on a solid batting partnership in a 2nd grade gf with Dad after being in trouble and winning the game in ealry 2000’s.
Played a full season of 1st grade with my dad and brothers.
Winning my 1st night comp against a very strong souths team with a very inexperienced side.
2018-19 winning the Whitney cup, night comp and western zone premier league and taking 50 wickets all in the same season.

Biggest rival: Jason Green used to try and knock my head off when I first came into 1st grade and always scored big runs against us. And pretty much every colts team I’ve played against since u9’s. (They’ve just always been strong and I’ve loved the challenge)

Favourite sporting team: Aussie Cricket Team or San Antonio Spurs

Hobbies: cricket or basketball these days but I’ve always played plenty of sports. Used to love indoor cricket as well.

Work: Dairy Farmer

🏏 Newtown Tigers Representing at Western Plains Trials 🐯

A big congratulations to four of our Newtown Tigers juniors who took part in the Western Plains Outlaws Train & Trial sessions last Sunday.

Bert – Under 13s
Harrison – Under 14s
Hamish – Under 15s
Jay – Under 16s

These sessions form part of the selection process for the Western Plains representative teams and give players the opportunity to train, compete and put their best foot forward for possible selection.

The boys will now have another opportunity to impress at the next Train & Trial session in Parkes on 20 September.

It’s fantastic to see our Tigers juniors putting their names up in lights and challenging themselves at the next level.

Good luck lads for the upcoming session — enjoy the experience, back yourselves and make the most of the opportunity. We’ll be cheering you on!
