The countdown to the 2026 World Bowls Champion of Champions is on.

From 6-10 October, national champions from 35 nations will come together at CluBarham in New South Wales, Australia, to compete for the men’s and women’s titles.

World Bowls Hall of Fame inductee Sarah Gourlay received her award, presented by Director Sue Beatt alongside Bowls Scotland President Sandra McLeish.

Sarah’s remarkable career has left a lasting mark on bowls in Scotland and around the world.

Women from across the global bowls community came together in Glasgow during the 2026 Commonwealth Games to talk about leadership, opportunity and the future of women in our sport.

The World Bowls Women in Bowls Leadership Event brought together 25 leaders, administrators, athletes and advocates to share experiences, identify barriers and discuss practical ways to create more opportunities for women to lead.

As World Bowls Director Hazel Wilson said, the most important part is what happens next.

The discussion highlighted a number of priorities, including stronger leadership pathways, better connections between women across Member Nations, mentoring opportunities and the development of a global Women in Bowls network.

Olympic gold medallist Dame Mary Peters has backed the case for bowls to be considered for the 2032 Olympic Games, highlighting the skill and global appeal of our sport.

Her support follows another strong showing for bowls at Glasgow 2026 and adds to the growing momentum behind the Bowls for Brisbane 2032 campaign, led by World Bowls and Bowls Australia.
