Today, we pause as a nation to remember the 15 lives lost at a Chanukah by the Sea event at Bondi Beach last month.

On this National Day of Mourning, we stand with the Bondi community and Australia’s Jewish community. We honour the victims, acknowledge the families and loved ones who continue to grieve and recognise the bravery of first responders and those who acted with courage in the most harrowing circumstances.

At 7.01pm tonight, we encourage our community to observe the national minute’s silence and to reflect on the theme Light will win, choosing kindness, inclusion and care for one another.

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted. May we continue to look after each other and stand firmly against hatred in all its forms.
