LT’s - Youth 1 🩵

Last week, one of our MDSBA families experienced an unimaginable and heartbreaking loss, with the sudden passing of Mark Curtis — dad to our beautiful Kendall, one of our incredible dance and cheer athletes, and husband to Krystal. 🖤💛

Mark was a much-loved dad, husband, friend and incredibly proud supporter of Kendall — and a passionate Richmond Tigers supporter.

So, when our athletes and coaches took to the competition floor this weekend at Cheercon States, more than 250 members of our MDSBA family wore black and yellow bands around their arms in honour of Mark, and most importantly, to show Kendall, Krystal and their family that they have an entire community standing beside them.

It was only a small gesture, but seeing those black and yellow bands on every team, every athlete and every coach throughout the weekend was something incredibly special.

Our community has experienced loss in many different ways over the years, and moments like this remind us that what we share extends far beyond classes, teams, trophies and the competition floor.

This weekend, we competed for something bigger.

For Kendall. For Krystal. For their family.

And for Mark. 🖤💛
