First established in 1985 the Devonport Triathlon is one of the oldest triathlons in Australia. Since beginning, this event has grown to one of the highest profile events on the Triathlon Australia calendar. Recent years the race has played host to the following events.
- World Triathlon Para Series (only one held in the Southern Hemisphere)
- Elite/U23 Oceania Championships
- National Championsh
