Darwin's Interschool AFL Competition

🏉 𝐎’𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡
O'Loughlin Catholic College has progressed through to the Senior Boys Grand Final after a strong win over Casuarina Senior College in a windy contest.

The opening quarter was a real arm wrestle, with the conditions making clean ball movement difficult and both sides competing hard around the contest. Neither team was able to gain a clear advantage early.

As the game went on, O’Loughlin began to take control, adapting well to the windy conditions, using the ball more effectively and gradually opening up a lead before kicking away.

O’Loughlin’s young brigade stood up on the big stage, with Addi Omeike, Jed Crossman and Brodie Ayres all producing strong performances. They were well supported by the usual contributors in Kairyce Lowah, Max Wilson and Jasper Da Rocha, who again played important roles throughout the game.

The result now sets up a highly anticipated Grand Final rematch against Haileybury Rendall School, with the two sides preparing to meet again after their earlier clash this season.

It should be another exciting contest between two talented senior school football sides.

The Year 8 boys have shown just how much talent is coming through at O'Loughlin Catholic College, defeating the Year 9s 44 to 12.

With a few notable Year 9 players missing, the Year 8s took full advantage and produced an impressive team performance.

Addi Omeike, Seb Hale, Tyler Devir and Jed Crossman all had standout games, with Addi Omeike awarded Best on Ground after an excellent performance.

Addi has a very bright football future ahead of him and will take his talents to Xavier College in Melbourne next year, where he will continue to develop and push himself to become the best footballer he can be.

A great contest between two talented year levels. We hope to get both teams at full strength and have an exciting best of three series. 🏆

There will be plenty of talent on display when O’Loughlin’s Year 8 and Year 9 boys go head to head tomorrow at lunchtime.

Both year levels are packed with exciting young footballers, so this should be a great contest and an entertaining game to watch.

O’Loughlin has been the standout school in the Middle School AFL Competition in recent seasons, and this match gives some of our talented players the chance to test themselves against each other and represent their year level.

Haileybury Rendall School continued their strong Senior Boys campaign with an impressive 61–16 victory over Casuarina Senior College.
HRS gained control through the midfield, using their speed, strength and clean ball movement to consistently drive the ball forward and create scoring opportunities.

Preston Oliver was outstanding through the midfield, finishing with 1 goal, 1 behind. His speed and powerful kicking were a feature as he continually helped HRS move the ball into attack.

Mazlan Patrick also produced a strong midfield performance, kicking 1 goal, 1 behind while using his agility and strength to break tackles and keep the ball moving forward.

Tylar Raymond was dangerous around goal, finishing with 3 goals after repeatedly finding great positions and making the most of his opportunities.
A convincing performance from HRS as they continue to build momentum in the Senior Boys competition.

Next up is Casuarina vs O’Loughlin, playing off for a Grand Final spot.

The school footy community would like to wish former O'Loughlin Catholic College player Jett Fawcett a speedy recovery following the injury he sustained while representing SEDA at the recent Senior Gala Day.

Jett was a member of O’Loughlin’s inaugural Middle School premiership team before backing it up the following year by winning the Academys Best and Fairest award.

The entire school footy community is cheering you on Jett, and we look forward to seeing you back doing what you love.

𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐂𝐂

Haileybury Rendall School opened the Senior Boys AFL season with a commanding performance, defeating O'Loughlin Catholic College by 54 points.

Featuring several talented players from the NT Academy squad, the match began as a tight arm wrestle throughout the first quarter. Haileybury then took control, with their speed, run and carry proving too difficult for OCC to contain.
Led by standout performances from Sonny Smiler and Jaren Sambo, Haileybury showed they will be extremely difficult to beat this season.

O’Loughlin will now need to regroup and quickly rediscover their best form as they continue their pursuit of a perfect school football season. OCC has won all eight events contested so far this year and remains in the hunt for an incredible nine premierships from nine competitions.

Next up, Haileybury will face Casuarina Senior College in another exciting showcase of Darwin’s best school football talent.

O'Loughlin Catholic College and Haileybury Rendall School will renew their long standing rivalry in a highly anticipated Senior Boys AFL clash.

These two proud schools have faced off in multiple grand finals over the years and have established themselves as two of the leading school AFL programs in Darwin.

These two teams will be absolutely stacked with NT Academy talent, so come on down to check out some of Darwin's best school footy talent.

O'Loughlin Catholic College have taken out the Senior Girls Gala Day after a strong day of football against Haileybury Rendall School and SEDA.

OCC met SEDA in the Grand Final, with SEDA College NT coming out firing early and putting plenty of pressure on the contest. OCC responded well in the second half, gaining control of the game and kicking away to secure the win.

𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐚, a Year 9 student, was outstanding through the midfield and was arguably best on ground, backing up from her Middle School Grand Final win the day before with another impressive performance.

Credit to SEDA and Haileybury for their strong competition and sportsmanship throughout the day. The Gala Day showcased a fantastic standard of girls football and it is exciting to see what the after school competition in term 3 can produce.
