🏉 WEEKLY WRAP – FINALS WEEK 🦁❤️💚

It wasn’t the result our Open 2s were hoping for on Saturday, going down 44–10 to Greenbank Raiders in the semi-final.

Greenbank came out firing and deserved their win, securing their place in the Grand Final. Congratulations to the Raiders and best of luck for the big one! 👏

But to our Slacks Creek boys — hold your heads high. ❤️💚

Making it to the semi-finals is an achievement in itself, and this group has put in plenty of hard work, commitment, and effort throughout the season. Rugby league can be brutal sometimes; you can give everything you have and still walk away on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

It wasn’t our day, but it doesn’t take away from what this team has achieved.

A huge thank you to our coaches, managers, volunteers, families, and supporters who have backed the Open 2s all season. Your support means more than you know.

And to the players — thank you for representing The Creek. 🦁

Every single player played their hearts out, and the result showed just how much effort, determination, and belief this team has put in.

The support for each other, backing of their teammates, and teamwork today were on another level. You could see the connection right across the field, with everyone working for each other and refusing to give an inch. 💪

And just like that, the regular season has come to an end for our U6 through to U12 teams! ❤️💚

What a season it has been! We’ve watched our youngest players learn, grow, make new friends, build confidence and, most importantly, have plenty of fun playing rugby league. There have been wins, losses, tough games, big tackles, great tries, plenty of laughs and some fantastic moments along the way.

A HUGE shout-out to everyone who has helped make this season possible. 👏 To our coaches and managers thank you for the time, patience and commitment you have given our kids week after week.

To our LeagueSafes, first aiders and game-day volunteers thank you for being there every weekend and helping keep our players safe and our game days running.

And to everyone working behind the scenes setting up fields, packing up, running the canteen, organising equipment, washing jerseys, doing paperwork, answering messages, helping families and doing all the little jobs that often go unnoticed we see you, and we appreciate you! ❤️💚

A rugby league club doesn't run on game day alone. It takes a massive team of people behind the scenes, and this season has once again shown what a great community we have at Slacks Creek Rugby League.

🦁 Under 6s - A fantastic final game to finish off our Under 6 season! 🏉❤️💚We couldn’t be prouder of how much this team has improved throughout their very first year. From where they started to where they finished, the growth has been incredible! Most importantly, they’ve had fun, supported each other, made new friendships and enjoyed every minute out on the field. 🦁 Under 7 Green - And that’s a wrap for our U7 Green season! 💚❤️🏉Today was a tough game to finish the season, and with no subs, the boys had to dig deep. But they never gave up and gave it absolutely everything right until the final whistle. 💪Well done to every player who took the field today. Your heart, determination and sportsmanship were outstanding, and you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves! 👏What a season it has been for our U7 Green team! ❤️💚🏆 Player of the Match: Max 🏆

🦁 Under 7 Red - A fantastic final game from our U7 Red team! ❤️💚🏉There was great teamwork and enthusiasm from start to finish, along with a few bittersweet feelings from players and parents alike knowing the season has come to an end. It’s been such a pleasure watching these boys grow each week and seeing them take on tackling with so much confidence. The improvement, effort and enthusiasm they’ve shown throughout the season has been fantastic to watch. We know they’ll miss their teammates over the off-season, but what a year it’s been for this team! 👏 Awesome work, boys! 🦁 Under 8 Red - Our U8 Red boys travelled to take on Rochedale Gold for their final game of the season, and a big effort was needed to finish the year on a high! The boys brought the hard runs, big hits and plenty of determination from start to finish — and as always, hard runs + big hits = plenty of smiles! 😁💪🏉 What a way to finish the season, boys! You should all be proud of the effort you’ve put in throughout the year. ❤️💚🏆 Players of the Match: Jeremy & crew 🏆

🦁 Under 8 Green - An amazing last game played at Rochedale Tigers to finish off the season! A huge thank you to all the parents and players for a fantastic season. Your support, commitment and enthusiasm throughout the year have been amazing. We hope to see you all back next year for another great season! ❤️💚🏆 Player of the Match: EVERYONE!

🦁 Under 9s - Our U9s finished off the season with an absolute cracking game! 🔥Everyone gave it their best, played with plenty of heart and, most importantly, had a great time out on the field. What a fantastic way to finish the season! 👏🏉And to top it all off, the boys even got to meet Xavier Willison from the Broncos! A pretty special way to end an awesome season! ❤️💚 Well done, U9s — you should all be so proud of yourselves! 🏉👏

🦁 Under 10s - That’s a wrap on our Under 10s 2026 season! It was a tough game today and it may not have gone the way we wanted, but that certainly doesn’t take away from what has been a fantastic season for the boys. 👏There have been so many positives, plenty of improvement and, most importantly, lots of fun along the way! That’s what junior footy is all about. ❤️💚We are incredibly proud of every one of the kids and everything they’ve achieved this season. 🦁 Under 11 Boys - Congratulations to Pat, our Man of the Match today! 🏆👏 It wasn’t the scoreboard result we wanted, but there were plenty of great tries, big efforts and moments to be proud of. We started the season as a brand-new team, with many of the boys meeting for the very first time, and several completely new to rugby league.But the growth this season has been about so much more than football. We’ve seen confidence grow, resilience develop, emotional regulation improve, and the boys learn the importance of respect, sportsmanship and mateship. Most importantly, they’ve had fun. ❤️That’s what team sport is really about. The lessons learned, the friendships made and the memories created are so much bigger than the scoreboard. What an incredible journey for this group of boys. You should all be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved this season! 🏉💚❤️

🦁 Under 11 girls - A little bit bittersweet knowing the season has come to an end, but the girls certainly saved their best for last! 🔥They played outstanding footy today, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come throughout the season. It’s been amazing watching their growth, effort, confidence and teamwork develop week after week. 👏We hope every one of these girls continues their footy journey and keeps enjoying the game. 🦁 Under 14s - What a challenging game on Friday! The boys put their best foot forward and gave it everything they had, but unfortunately came away with the loss. With the odds not in their favour, they never gave up. They held their heads high, continued to fight right until the end and showed amazing sportsmanship throughout the game. 👏🏆 Player of the Match: Makaire Te Moananui 🏆A huge congratulations also to Braxtyn Skjellerup and Murri on receiving awards for their outstanding efforts! 👏🔥So proud of the way the boys conducted themselves and continued to support each other. ❤️💚

🦁 Under 15s - The boys travelled to Pinklands today to take on Redlands in their final game of the season.The result didn’t fall our way, but their effort absolutely did. Their defence was strong, their attitude was outstanding, and you could clearly see just how much progress they’ve made across a tough year. 💪 It’s never easy to keep turning up when the scoreboard isn’t in your favour, yet these boys showed resilience, commitment and genuine care for one another every single week. 🦁 Under 6s - The Under 6s played their final home game of the season against a very good Beenleigh team, and it was a tough one from start to finish. The boys and girls showed plenty of heart and determination, with everyone giving it their best and never giving up. 💚❤️ It was fantastic to see the team encouraging each other, working hard, supporting their teammates and, most importantly, enjoying their rugby league. 👏 A big effort from everyone in a tough game — you should all be proud of yourselves! 💪⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH: BROOKLYN ⭐

🦁 Under 7 Green - The Under 7s Green team gave it their all today, showing plenty of effort, determination and teamwork from start to finish. 🏉 The kids continued to encourage each other, work hard for their teammates and most importantly, enjoy their footy. 🦁 Under 8 Red - The U8 Red boys turned up ready to go for their final home game of the year against Beenleigh Black! 🏉🔥There were some solid hit-ups, great tackling and plenty of effort right across the field. 🦁 Under 8 Green - The U8s Green had a special surprise waiting for them at their last home game of the season — a banner to run through! 🏉🎉The boys loved the moment and then took that energy onto the field, showing great teamwork, strong carries and some seriously tough tackling throughout the game. 💪🔥It was fantastic to see everyone working together, supporting their teammates and giving it their all right until the final whistle.⭐ PLAYERS OF THE MATCH: ARLO, HAMISH & MECHARL ⭐

🦁 Under 9s - What a big game from the U9s today! 🏉🔥There were plenty of big runs, strong efforts and some great teamwork, with the team really holding their own out there. Every player put in a massive effort and battled hard right through the game. 💪👏It was fantastic to see the boys and girls backing each other up, working hard and giving it everything they had.🌟 A big shout-out to Sebastian, Aubree & Mason for their awesome efforts today! 👏🏉

🦁 Under 10s - What a game from our U10 boys today! 🏉🔥The boys really showed what they’re capable of, putting together an incredible performance that was fantastic to watch. The effort, teamwork and determination from every one of them was outstanding. 💪👏It’s been fantastic to see how much these boys have grown and developed throughout the season, and today they showed just how far they’ve come. We’re so proud of every one of you and the effort you put in today.⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH: BILLIE ⭐

🦁 Under 11 Boys - What a great game of footy today against Beenleigh! Every single player really stepped up today, showing a genuine team-first mentality from start to finish. It was fantastic to see the boys putting their hands up to play in non-preferred positions and doing whatever the team needed. There were some standout moments across the field, including some huge runs from Marlee, earning him our Player of the Match . Kane also pulled off a great grubber that set up a try for Xzavier and showed the boys' growing confidence to create something when the opportunity is there. Most importantly, it was great to see everyone giving it a good crack, backing themselves and trying to create something on the field. The improvement and confidence in this team continues to shine through. A big thank you to Zeke and Indi for stepping in and helping our team this week. We really appreciate you both!

🦁 Under 11 girls - The U11 girls really stepped up today! 🏉🔥You can see the girls starting to believe in themselves, and all the hard work they’ve been putting in at training is beginning to show out on the field. 💪Their confidence is growing, they’re working together, and it’s fantastic to see everything starting to come together. 👏We’re really proud of the effort, determination and progress these girls are showing every week. 🦁 Under 14s - Absolutely proud of our Under 14s today! 🏉🔥After losing their first two games against Mustangs this season, the boys came out determined to turn things around — and they did just that, securing a fantastic win in their third meeting! 💪This win was built on sheer teamwork, determination and effort from every player on the field. They worked for each other, never gave up and showed exactly what they are capable of. The boys have come such a long way this season, not only in their football but also in the sportsmanship, respect and character they continue to show on and off the field. ❤️🏆 SPECIAL AWARDS: Glen & Max

🦁 Under 15s - The Under 15s played their final home game of the season against Souths Sunnybank, and it was a tough contest from start to finish. 🏉It’s not always easy when you’re down on the scoreboard, but the boys kept their heads up, stayed composed and continued to fight their way through the game. 💪Their effort and resilience never wavered, and that determination to keep pushing right until the final whistle is something they should be proud of.👏 Congratulations to Cooper and Max on some great tries!⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH: HAYDEN ⭐

🦁 Open Men - This week we came up against Souths Magpies with an important opportunity to secure 2nd spot and earn a straight passage through to the second week of the finals. The team went into the game with a clear intent — to set a standard for ourselves and show the level of effort, attitude and discipline we expect heading into finals. It was a really good performance from the boys, and importantly, we got the result we were after. 💪🏉
With the win, we’ve secured 2nd spot on the ladder and the valuable week off before returning in the second week of finals. Now the focus shifts to preparing for finals. We’ve put ourselves in a great position, but the challenge is to keep building, stay focused and make sure we’re ready to go when our opportunity comes.🔥 A great result. 2nd spot secured. 🏉 Weekly Wrap-Up – Round 12 🏉

We are starting this week's weekly wrap-up with a positive story,

Friday night at Logan Brothers, an unexpected situation could have seen one game abandoned. The referee assigned to the Under 15s match had accidentally gone to the wrong venue, leaving the game without an official. Fortunately, there was a qualified referee officiating the Under 12s game, but moving him across would have meant abandoning the younger players' match.

That's when one of our own stepped up.

Slacks Creek Under 15 player Carlos Brock, who is also a qualified referee, volunteered to take over the Under 12s game. By doing so, he gave up part of his own match so that both games could continue and every player got the opportunity to finish their game.
This was a selfless act that showed outstanding sportsmanship, leadership, and respect for the game. Carlos put the needs of others ahead of himself, ensuring that not only his teammates could play, but that the Under 12 players didn't miss out either.
Well done, Carlos. You should be incredibly proud of the maturity and community spirit you showed. You are a wonderful ambassador for Slacks Creek Rugby League and for rugby league as a whole. 👏💚❤️

🦁 Under 6s - What a fantastic game by the Under 6s at Greenbank today. Every player gave 100% effort and showed incredible determination from start to finish. The team's defence was outstanding, with everyone working together to get the opposition's tags and support each other across the field. Their teamwork, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship were on display all game, making everyone proud. Well done to all the players on an excellent performance. Hopefully we can bring the same energy and teamwork into next week and our last game at home. Our player of the match today was Alex.

🦁 Under 7 Red and Green - A special shout-out to Jarred, Jaydelle and Raffy! 👏🦁

After our Under 7 Green team's coach and a couple of players were struck down with illness overnight, these three stepped up without hesitation to ensure both our Under 7 Red and Under 7 Green teams could still take the field. Your willingness to help out at short notice is a perfect example of what our club is all about: teamwork, commitment and putting the kids first. Thank you for going above and beyond to make sure every child had the opportunity to play. We truly appreciate everything you did! 💚❤️

U7 Red played their first game with Coach watching from the sidelines, and they delivered one of their best performances of the season. They played with great teamwork, determination, and enthusiasm from start to finish. It was tough to choose one Player of the Match because every single player had a fantastic game and contributed to the team's success. POTMs - Fraser, Tommy and Ikaia

U7 Green traveled out to Acacia Ridge this week. It was a tough start for the boys, who played the match with no subs due to illness. Despite the challenge, the boys were determined; they dug deep and kept working hard for each other while having fun! POTM - Malakai

🦁 Under 8 Red - Our Under 8s Red team hit the road this weekend to take on Mustangs Brothers Red. It was a tough contest against a motivated home side, with both teams showing plenty of enthusiasm and determination. Player of the Match: Matua

🦁 Under 8 Green - Our Under 8s Green team put together an outstanding performance against the Waterford Demons this weekend. From the opening whistle, the team showed excellent attack and solid defence, setting the tone early and earning a well-deserved victory. As we head into the final part of the season, it's great to see the players' hard work at training translating into confident performances on the field. Their teamwork, determination and growing skills were on display throughout the match. Players of the Match: Wilton, Oliver & Hamish

🦁 Under 9s - Massive effort today, team! There were some huge hits out there; everyone kept their energy up from start to finish, and it paid off with a well-deserved win. You should all be proud of the way you worked together and never gave up. A big shout-out to Hudson, Finn, and Onyx for their outstanding efforts today. Great job, everyone!

🦁 Under 10s - Our Under 10s boys put in a determined performance and played with plenty of heart from start to finish. They showed great effort, never gave up, and continued to work hard for each other throughout the game. While they couldn't quite get the result they were chasing, the commitment, teamwork, and resilience they displayed are something to be proud of. Every game is another opportunity to learn and improve, and this team continues to grow each week. Well done, boys. Keep playing with the same passion and determination! ❤️💚 Player of the Match! 🦁 Under 11 Boys - Another great day of footy, with so much to be proud of. We saw some exceptional mateship, skill and growth out on the field today. These boys continue to turn up for each other week after week, and that's what being a team is all about. The determination, resilience and positive attitude shown by the team were outstanding. Every game is another opportunity to learn, improve and grow together, and this group continues to do exactly that. Keep your heads high, Lions. We're incredibly proud of every one of you. 🦁 Under 11 girls - Our Under 11 Girls enjoyed a well-earned bye this week. 💚❤️ The girls have been working hard all season, and the break gave them a chance to rest, recover and get ready for the weeks ahead. We can't wait to see them back on the field next round, continuing to grow in confidence, skill and teamwork. Bring on next week, girls! 🦁

🦁 Under 14s - What a game Friday night! While the result didn't go our way, every single player should be incredibly proud of the performance they put in. The tackling, strong runs and safe hands were outstanding, and the team showed just how much they've developed throughout the season. Even when emotions ran high for a moment, the boys stayed together and produced one of their best performances to date. The effort, determination, and teamwork on display were something to be proud of. Keep bringing that same intensity and commitment every week—you've shown what you're capable of, and the results will come.

🦁 Under 15s - Our Under 15s traveled to Logan Brothers on Friday night and held their own through a strong opening 15 minutes before the opposition gained momentum.
While the result didn't go our way, the growth this team has shown throughout the season has been outstanding. Their communication, teamwork and understanding of the game continue to improve each week, and there were plenty of positive moments to build on. The boys' effort and determination never wavered, and they continue to build a strong foundation for the future. Player of the Match: Cooper Ward.

🦁 Open Men - Unfortunately, our Open Men's match was forfeited by Sunnybank, meaning the boys didn't get the opportunity to take the field this weekend.
