SUBURBAN RUGBY DIV 5 GRAND FINALS

The next of our grand finals! Congratulations to all match officials involved in the Subbies Rugby Div 5 Finals Series, held on 22nd of August at Wills Ground! A great day out for some rugby and well done to all!

Special thanks to our MODs: David Davies (Convenor), Richard Chen, Mervyn Iles, and David Marshall. Thank you for your effort and guidance throughout the entire series, it is truely appreciated!

WOMEN’S PREMIER GRAND FINALS

The first of our finals kicked off on 22 August at Eric Tweedale Stadium, with the Women’s Premier Grand Finals across the Chikarovski Cup and Premier Division 2. Congratulations to all match officials involved - a huge effort from everyone on a big day for women’s rugby. Well done to the team on the field!

Massive thanks to our amazing MOD team! To Caitlin Winslade (Convenor), Rachel Horton, Annie Dickeson, and Gerard Rigby - we deeply appreciate your outstanding support throughout the series.

It has been a season defined by notable milestones, and we are pleased to acknowledge another. Congratulations to Colm McCaughan, who last weekend recorded his 100th Assistant Referee appointment in the Shute Shield, officiating at Woollahra Oval for the semi‑final between Easts and Eastwood.

As an association, we place considerable value on the contribution of our Assistant Referees. To demonstrate the skill, consistency, commitment, and work ethic required to earn 100 Shute Shield AR appointments is an exceptional achievement.

When combined with his 33 Shute Shield referee appointments, Colm’s service spans 133 first grade fixtures - a testament to sustained professionalism, preparation, and commitment. As he steps away from our Shute Shield Panel at the end of the year, we extend our sincere thanks for his outstanding service to our association and to the Shute Shield competition.

Congratulations to another member achieving a milestone this year! Chris Bereton reaching his 200th game a few weeks ago!

Chris is a true workhorse of Sydney suburban rugby, and bought up his double century at David Phillips Field, on Blunt Cup, with UNSW v St Pats.

Well done Chris!

Some final round milestones to wrap up the regular season!

Congrats to Julius and Jack on their respective milestones from last weekend.

Julius has worn many hats in the rugby world, his current role being the Chair of our Development and Appointments Committee, but he still does the work in grassroots - bringing up his double century on Judd Cup at Rawson Oval - Mosman v Colleagues.

Jack is a member of our Shute Shield Panel, and has been a regular around first grade since his debut in 2024 - quite the achievement to reach that level well before his 100th game! Jack bought up his triple digits on 2nd grade at Coogee Oval, for Randwick v Rats.
