Just on the Gosbell 5k - you don't have to nominate actual teams before the race. The first 4 Croydon people over the line (incl a female) become the team by default. So any number of people can come and run in the event.

Greetings all. Spring has definitely sprung and we’ve had some great weather this week which looks like continuing for a few more days. Even managed to fit in another outdoor bike ride on Saturday, much nicer than sitting on a trainer, pedalling furiously and going nowhere. Our turnout was, again, great last Tuesday made even better by welcoming new athletes Russell for his first time and Rui returning for another round and taking home a prize to cap it off.
As mentioned earlier, the annual Gosbell memorial teams 5000m will be held at East Burwood on Thursday October 8, to which we are invited to send a team (or more). A team consists of four runners and must be mixed. The event has all runners from all teams starting together and combined finishing times will determine placings. I have a couple who are keen to run so anyone can let me know if they are interested and we’ll get a team organised. Also as mentioned earlier, I won’t be able to attend the Gosbell meeting as I’ll be in Alice Springs from 6/10-17/10 where Jess and I will be competing in the Alice Springs masters games and taking in some sightseeing.
Congratulations to those who tackled the formidable challenge of racing Puffing Billy two Sundays ago. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a veteran it’s a great achievement just to get it done.
Thanks again to our track helpers and supper suppliers who seem to be outdoing themselves weekly.
Next Tuesday, 22/9, our program is:
-1400m NOT walk.
-100m sprint.
-800m run.
-2x250m sprint relay.
-3km run/1km walk.
See you there.
Cheers, Grant.

Greetings all. Huge thanks and congratulations to those who made it to East Burwood last Thursday for the annual Hawley Thomas teams relay. Our lap scorer, Andrew E, photographer, Tania and our other regular Croydon/EB attendees with special congratulations to our team of three ; Christos, Greg and Andrew Arnott who finished third overall. A great result and we hope you all enjoyed the occasion. As the PDF above shows, there is another multi-venue event planned for October 8 at East Burwood which would be great to attend also.
I’ve been notified by the Council that the reason for the public toilet being locked is that it was badly vandalised they’re awaiting repairs. There are some portaloos on the track for the public to use.
Next Tuesday, 15/9, our program is:
-1200m walk.
-2x150m sprint relay.
-1 mile NOT.
-200m sprint.
-8 laps run/4 laps walk.
See you there,
Cheers, Grant.

Hi all. I won’t make it to East Burwood tonight, had dental surgery today and still sore and swollen. Good luck to everyone.

Greetings all. Excellent turn out again last Tuesday and it appears that everyone has adapted to going around the track from the correct start/finish line for probably the first time in over 40 years. With the new temporary facility compound up and running, we should be settled for the duration until the new building is ready to receive us.
Thanks to those regular volunteers who jump in to keep the meetings going smoothly and the generous supper contributions by all.
As most will be aware, the WMAC wound up last Thursday with many standout individual performances contributing to a very successful championships for the Australian national team. Hopefully our own world champion, Allan Wood, will be back soon to give us a first hand account of the event and show off his medals. Closer to home we have the Hawley Thomas relay next Thursday at East Burwood where medals of only slightly less significance will also be up for grabs.
On Tuesday, 8/9, our program is:
-1300m walk NOT.
-80m sprint.
-1200m run
-300m sprint.
-4km run/2km walk NOT.
See you there.
By the way, I think Christos’s Mongolian M90 athlete competed in the 2019 Oceania championships in McKay where Jess, Staggy, Eggy and I met him. Andrew Egginton gave him a ride around town to help him and his daughter get to their hotel and I gave him a pair of team Australia running shorts to remember us by. Great to see he is still going strong.
Cheers, Grant.
