πββοΈβοΈ WINTER SWIMMING β KURNELL STYLE! βοΈπββοΈ
Winter swimming was a little different today as we packed up and headed over to Kurnell for a very special swim, kindly organised by our local residents Carrol & Bernard. ππ
With the sun shining βοΈ and just a little bit of wind π¨, 16 smiling swimmers braved the not-so-wintery waterβ¦ a very balmy 17 degrees! π₯Άπ And what an absolutely amazing winter swim it was! ππββοΈπββοΈ
After working up an appetite in the water, some of us adjourned to the local cafΓ© βοΈπ₯ for a very enjoyable coffee and a catch-up.
But the main event was still to comeβ¦ π₯’π₯‘
π¨π³ KURNELL REC CLUB CHINESE BANQUET! π¨π³
And WOWβ¦ what a feast! π€€π₯π With 31 hungry attendees, there was certainly no shortage of food, laughter and great company. Letβs just say no one needs dinner tonight! ππ
A huge thank you to everyone who made today such a fantastic day, and especially Carrol & Bernard , Peter and Cheryl Poppett for organising our Kurnell adventure. β€οΈπ
πββοΈ Another amazing winter swim ticked off!
πΈ Spring is just around the cornerβ¦
βοΈ The weather is getting betterβ¦
π And it only gets better from here!
How lucky are we?! πππ

βοΈπ SUNSHINE, SWIMMING & A FEW SLIGHTLY CRAZY PEOPLE! πββοΈπ
With the sun shining brightly, there was absolutely no keeping us away this morning! βοΈπ A respectable 17 degrees in the water greeted our 19 slightly crazy swimmers who were more than ready to take on the chilly water! π₯Άπ
17 brave souls headed into the waves ππͺ while 2 swimmers opted for the rock pool! ππββοΈ
You seriously couldnβt ask for a better start to a Sunday morningβ¦ and there may have been an extra incentive to get out of bed today! ππ
The May, June & July Monthly Towels were finally up for grabs β and perhaps that explains the impressive turnout! π
Following this mornings swim we adjourned to the RSL for a warming coffee and presentation of the monthly towels .
π Congratulations to our towel winners:
π Carrol Daly
π Bernard Daly β not to be outdone π
π Laurie Goddard
Three very happy towel owners who can now proudly dry themselves off in style! π§ββοΈπ§ββοΈπ
With the winter season in full swing, what better way to kick-start your Sunday than sunshine, salty water, great company and a little bit of craziness! βοΈπβ€οΈ
See you all next Sundayβ¦ wetsuits optional, bravery compulsory! ππββοΈ

With the sun shining brightly, it looked like the perfect day for a swim as 6 of our Cronulla RSL Swimming Club members headed to visit our wonderful friends, the Maroubra Seals at Mahon Pool. πββοΈπ
Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans! π High tide and crashing waves pouring over the rock pool meant conditions were just too dangerous to hold the races. Safety always comes first! π
But did that stop us getting wet? Absolutely not! π We all enjoyed a quick βteabagβ in the water so we could honestly say weβd been in! β
π
After warming up with a lovely hot shower, we were treated to the fantastic hospitality the Maroubra Seals are famous for, enjoying a delicious beef & Guinness soup followed by a tasty BBQ. ππ
A huge thank you to everyone at the Maroubra Seals for making us feel so welcome despite the challenging conditions. We had a wonderful day and canβt wait to return the favour when you join us during the summer season at beautiful Gunnamatta Bay. βοΈποΈ
See you all again soon! ππββοΈ

ππ What a fantastic day celebrating the 2025/2026 season! ππ
Today was the much-anticipated Cronulla RSL Swimming Club Presentation Day, and with over 85 members in attendance, it was always going to be a wonderful afternoon! ππ
We enjoyed a delicious lunch, shared a few wines and beers π·πΊ, plenty of laughs π, and celebrated another fantastic season of swimming and friendship.
Congratulations to all of our award recipients! π From Most Improved and Swimmer of the Year to the highly coveted Club Person of the Year, every award recognised the dedication, sportsmanship and spirit that make our club so special. π

Days like today donβt just happen by themselves. A huge thank you goes to our incredible committee and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenesβorganising the menu π½οΈ, coordinating the award winners π, arranging the trophies π and taking care of all the little details that made the day such a success. Your hard work is truly appreciated. π
Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate another memorable season. Hereβs to the friendships weβve made, the memories weβve shared, and doing it all again next year! πβ€οΈπ₯

Who said that salmon are not smart. Our netted pool at Gunnamatta was invaded yesterday by a large school of salmon yesterday. They came to swim inside the nets as there are white sharks out in the ocean who like to eat them. They made quiet a commotion and sent the fishermen into an excited frenzy throwing their lines in for an easy catch.
Thanks to Brian who was on the spot with his phone to take these shots.

π§οΈβ A little rain wasnβt going to stop us! ππ
With the wet and gloomy weather, we were all glued to our phones wonderingβ¦ βIs the carnival still on?β π€π±
Never fearβ¦ club spirit prevailed! πͺπ Nine hardy Cronulla RSL swimmers (along with a few friends from Kurranulla) headed south to join our mates from the Coalcliffe Sea Eels for another fantastic winter carnival! π¦π
Of course, no road trip is complete without a stop at Stanwell Tops ππΈ. The plan was simpleβ¦ admire the spectacular view while enjoying a hot coffee or chocolate ββ¦ except the cafΓ© had other ideas and wasnβt open! π Never mindβwe were treated to a visit from some beautiful Crimson Rosellas instead π¦, and we knew it was going to be a great day.
After arriving, a few brave souls ventured in for a pre-race warm-upβ¦ only to discover the water was a positively balmy 17Β°C! π₯Άπ€£
The dayβs events included:
π 50m (or 53m if you drew the outside lane! π)
π 100m
π And, of course, the much-loved 10-a-side 25m relay!
Sadly, the relay trophy wasnβt heading back to Cronulla this year πββ¦ but donβt worryβweβll be back in 2027 ready for another crack! πͺπ
A big congratulations to Ann Wood and Bernard Daly, who both powered their way into the 50m final! ππ
While we didnβt bring home any silverware this time, we certainly brought home plenty of laughs, great memories and club spirit. β€οΈ We topped off the day with delicious hot soup π², a few well-earned refreshments π» and plenty of stories to share.
A huge thank you to the Coalcliffe Sea Eels for once again hosting such a friendly and enjoyable winter carnival. We always love your hospitality and canβt wait to do it all again next year! πππ

πββοΈβοΈ CRONULLA RSL TAKES ON THE WINTER WEAKIESβ¦ AND CLEANS UP! ππ
The Winter Weakies kindly invited us to their carnival and all we can say isβ¦ thanks for the prizes! ππββοΈ
Our 16 attending swimmers were on fire from the first splash! π₯π¦
π
50m Closest to Nominated Time
π₯ Steve Murray β an incredible 0.02 seconds off his nominated time! Talk about precision! β±οΈπ
π
25m Brace Relay β a complete CRONULLA RSL clean sweep! ππ
π₯ Barbara Clarke & Joan Harper
π₯ Alan Barry & Dave Ritchie
π₯ Elizabeth Whitcombe & Carrol Daly
And the winning didnβt stop there! π
π₯ Our 10-aside relay team powered their way to 3rd place.
π₯ Our 6-aside ladies relay team also secured a fantastic 3rd place.
Seriouslyβ¦ is there anything our swimmers canβt achieve? π€πββοΈπββοΈ What an amazing team effort from everyone involved! πππ
Not to be forgotten, we also managed to snag a lucky door prize and raffle wins πποΈ because apparently winning in the pool wasnβt enough! π
A big thank you to local member Thistlethwaite for presenting the prizes and helping make the day extra special. π
Thanks to the Winter Weakies for hosting such a wonderful carnival, filled with great racing, lots of laughs, friendly competition and, of course, a fantastic sausage sizzle to finish things off ππ.
Now for the million-dollar questionβ¦ π°π€
Will they invite us back next year after we took home half the prizes? ππ

ππββοΈ Who said winter was coming?! You certainly wouldnβt have known it this morning with absolutely spectacular conditions for annual Cronulla RSL Swimming Club Sunday adventure at beautiful Silvers Beach, Kurnell! πβοΈ
A huge thanks to Carol for organising another fantastic swim day π
With 21 brave (or slightly crazy π€ͺ) swimmers taking to the water, we were shocked to discover the ocean was a positively tropical 19 degrees! ποΈπ₯
After working up an appetite, 45 hungry swimmers and our friends migrated to the Kurnell Rec Club for what can only be described as an elite-level Chinese banquet ππ₯π€ Safe to say thereβll be no cooking or dinner required tonightβ¦ weβre all still rolling ourselves home π
