Twenty years ago, I never could have imagined where this sport would take me.
For every one of those years sport aerobics has had my whole heart. I’ve experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, moments that have tested me, challenged me and made me question everything — but somehow, every year, something inside me brings me back for more.
I’ve had the absolute privilege of coaching athletes from so many different walks of life — from tiny school program participants taking their very first steps into the sport, through to National medallists and World Champions.
And while I’m incredibly proud of the results, the medals and the achievements along the way, I know that those results will eventually be forgotten.
What won’t be forgotten are the people.
The friendships.
The tears.
The laughter.
The nervous first performances.
The celebrations.
The setbacks.
The hugs.
The countless hours spent in studios.
The memories made with athletes, families, coaches and friends who have shared this journey with me.
Receiving the FISAF Australia Deirdre Bryant Community Contribution Award during my 20th year in the sport is so special and I am so incredibly honoured and touched. To be recognised for something that has been such a huge part of my life is something I will treasure deeply.
Sport aerobics has given me far more than I could ever give back.
So, to everyone who has been part of my journey over the past 20 years — thank you. You have all played a part in my story.
Here’s to whatever comes next 💙
