RESERVES ARE FINALS BOUND! 🐱πŸ”₯

The Ressies scrape through in epic fashion!

Going into the final game of the home & away season, we knew SNESA were right on our tail, with almost nothing separating us on percentage. Both sides were taking on bottom teams, so we knew a big win was needed.

With about 10 minutes left in the final quarter, word came through that we needed around four more goals to sneak into the finals.

And it came down to the VERY LAST PLAY OF THE GAME.

Mav kicks the winner just before the siren!

COOBY ARE THROUGH! 🐱

You couldn’t script it any better.

A massive congratulations to coach Ruebs and the boys on earning another finals campaign. After a long season, it literally came down to the final kick.

Good luck boys β€” enjoy the best time of the year.

League home & away season complete. πŸ±πŸ‰

A season of ups and downs β€” some tough losses, some really impressive wins.

Through a wave of injuries and constant team adjustments, the group never wavered.

With depth and drive, Coach George and the League boys still pushed through to finish 3rd with a 12–6 record.

The boys are locked in, primed and ready to make some noise in September.

The job’s not done.

THANK YOU, LADIES! πŸ’™πŸ€

Our season has officially come to an end for our Yorgas team.

It all came down to the final round to secure a spot in the finals. We needed Kalamunda to lose, which they did, but unfortunately our girls had the tough task of taking on the top-of-the-ladder powerhouse, Bayswater.

Although we didn’t get the result we needed, this season was a massive success.

Our women’s program has never had this much depth β€” more registered players, great numbers at training and, most importantly, a strong group of young females coming through. The vibes, growth and progression throughout the year have been unreal to watch and are a credit to everyone involved.

We started the season 0–6 in a very tough C1 competition before turning things around and putting together an incredible four-game winning streak. Unfortunately, we left our run just a little too late, but the fight and improvement shown in the back half of the season gives us plenty to build on for 2027.

A massive thank you to our head coach, Timmy. Through health battles of his own. It was exactly what this group needed for the second straight year. We can’t thank you enough. πŸ™πŸΌ

To JL and Trent, our assistant coaches β€” it was a pleasure having you both on board this year, and we’re sure the entire playing group would say the same.

To Chloe, our TM β€” thank you for taking on the ever-dreaded role πŸ˜… and keeping everything ticking along. And to all the other volunteers and helpers who gave up their time week in, week out, thank you!

Lastly, a huge thank you to our dedicated women’s sponsor, Warta Wuluju Concrete Pumping Pty Ltd. Your support of our women’s program means a lot to the club and none of this would be possible without you guys. πŸ«±πŸ»β€πŸ«²πŸ½

Ladies β€” lock in over summer, stay healthy, stay sharp, drag a few new teammates down with you and we’ll see you ready to go in 2027! πŸ‰

The future of our ladies program is looking bright. πŸ’™πŸ€

Round 16 Recap πŸ‰

Women v Forrestdale

Another game that went right down to the wire! The scores were neck and neck all day before birthday girl Martika kicked the match-winner in the dying minutes. With no bench and several key players unavailable, it was a massive effort from the girls to grind out the win.

Top performers: Jess.B, Rita, Martika, Lashanti & Alice.

β€”

Reserves v Mt Lawley

Taking on second place, the Ressies showed they can match it with the best in the competition in a quality game of footy.

Unfortunately, the game came to an early end during the third quarter after a freak injury forced play to be abandoned. We wish the injured Mt Lawley player a speedy recovery. πŸ«±πŸ»β€πŸ«²πŸ½

Top performers: Ronan, Ivan, Gazza, Shuk & Ant.

β€”

League v Mt Lawley

With the earlier delay, the umpires shortened the quarters, making it a fast-paced contest. The boys got the job done, playing some great team football. The energy around the group has been immaculate, and they’re building at the right time with just two games remaining before finals.

Top performers: Tyson, Troy, Bray, Clarkie & Billy.

β€”

The women have one game left, and it’s a must-win against the top side to keep their season alive.

The senior men now have two games remaining and will be looking to make a statement heading into finals.

πŸ’ͺ🏽 GAME DAY – ROUND 16 πŸ’™πŸ€

It’s an away trip for all three sides this week, and we need the Cooby faithful behind us!

Our Women’s team gets the day underway at 9:30am in Forrestdale, before our Reserves and League head to Hamer Park for a huge clash against Mount Lawley.

Get around the boys and girls, wear your blue and white with pride, and make some noise from the sidelines. Let’s bring home three wins! πŸ”₯πŸ‰

See you there!

ROUND 15 RECAP β˜€οΈπŸ‰

A solid day for the club, finishing 2/3 on a beautiful winter’s day while celebrating a few milestones.

Yorgas v Cobras

The last time these two sides met, it was a thriller with the Cobras stealing the win in the dying minutes.

The opposition arrived one player short, so we matched numbers and they started with the footy. After a few tweaks, we controlled territory, played tough team footy and eventually broke them open.

The girls secured a much-needed win to keep their finals hopes alive. They’ll need another win this week and a few other results to fall their way.

43-point win βœ…

Top performers: Khesan, Jess B, Ayvah, Annali & Tara.

β€”

Reserves v SNESA

We got the chocolates the last time these sides met, but SNESA came in with a much stronger outfit and there was plenty on the line.

Typical Cooby fashion, we lost 4–5 players before the opening bounce.

It was a hard-fought contest all day, but SNESA proved too strong in the end.

The finals dream is still alive, but we’ll need to lift quickly if we want to be playing in September.

38-point loss ❌

Top performers: Gazza, Ant, Rohan, Tirece & D. Woods.

β€”

League v SNESA

The last time these sides met, it was a day we’d rather forget. We simply weren’t good enough.

This week was a completely different storyβ€”just like our performance against Lynwood. The boys were switched on from the first bounce. Fast ball movement, great teamwork, clean switches, hard footy and plenty of energy. It was a pleasure to watch.

109-point winners βœ…

Top performers: Jordy, Curtis (8 goals) πŸ”₯, Bevan πŸ”’, Izy, Dom & JJ.

All three sides are on the road again next week. Let’s get to work on the track and finish the home-and-away season strong.
