What a season. 🤪

I think we managed to fit about 5–10 seasons’ worth of adversity into one! But looking back, I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved.

After moving players on, bringing players in and developing a young squad throughout the season, I genuinely believe we had a team capable of competing with and beating the top sides. We just gave away too many draws in games where, based on our performances, we should have taken all three points.

Ultimately, we needed to be more clinical in both boxes.

There were plenty of positives, particularly the opportunities given to young players — including one player who was playing community U16 football last season making his First Team debut. That’s something I’m really proud of.

The club also needed a significant culture shift. Standards needed to be raised, and that happened. Credit has to go to everyone involved — players, staff and the people behind the scenes at the club — for embracing that challenge and helping move things forward.

Personally, I’ve grown massively as both a coach and a person this season. There are lessons I’ll take with me for the rest of my coaching career and, more importantly, into life.

A challenging season, but one I’m grateful for.

The best environments don’t just produce better footballers—they produce better people.
My role has never been about creating players who simply perform on a Saturday. It’s about building individuals who think clearly, take responsibility, embrace adversity, and raise the standards of everyone around them.
When the person improves, the player improves.
When enough players improve, winning becomes a by-product of the culture.
That’s the environment I strive to create every day.

Development. Standards. Accountability. Connection.

Too many young players between 18 and 24 spend their time asking why they aren’t playing instead of making themselves impossible to leave out.
The reality is that nobody owes you a First Team spot.
The players who make it are usually not the most talented. They’re the ones who turn up consistently, train hard, listen, learn, compete, and respond when things don’t go their way.
If you’re serious about becoming a First Team player, stop looking for excuses. Stop blaming coaches, teammates, opportunities, formations, minutes, or luck.
Ask yourself:
What am I doing every day that makes a coach trust me?
What am I doing that makes my teammates better?
What am I doing that makes me impossible not to select?
Talent might get you noticed.
Character, consistency, and resilience get you picked.
The best young players I’ve worked with didn’t wait for opportunities. They earned them.
Be the player coaches can’t leave out.

Two brilliant days at our Easter Holiday Clinic — great energy, great attitude, and real quality on show from all the players.
