It’s the final big push of 2026, and there’s plenty happening around the club as we close out what has been a massive season for Metro FC!

Forget about cooking during Hobart Cup weekend — come down to the club, grab a meal and support Metro FC!

We’ll also have roast pork rolls available throughout the Hobart Cup weekend 🤤🐷

The canteen will be open all weekend with plenty of food and dinner options available.

⚽️ TONIGHT — WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

The final Women’s Championship match of the season will be played tonight between South Hobart and Knights.

Come down, grab some dinner and enjoy some football!

METRO FC SOUTHERN SOCIAL LEAGUE ONE MEN'S CHAMPIONS — 2026

Metro FC is proud to congratulate our Southern Social League One Men's team on securing the 2026 Southern Social League One Men's Championship.

An outstanding 5–1 victory over Barnstoneworth United this afternoon at Wentworth Park confirmed the title, capping off another outstanding campaign for this group.

This latest success marks the team's second league championship in just three years, a remarkable achievement that reflects the dedication, commitment and consistency shown by the players and coaching staff throughout that period.

The club would like to congratulate Brodie Holmes & the entire playing group, as well as everyone who has contributed to this achievement. We also thank our volunteers, members and supporters for their continued commitment and support throughout the season showing up to show their support week in week out.

An achievement the entire Metro FC community can be incredibly proud of.

Congratulations, Champions again!

⚽️ THE END OF AN ERA — AND THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ONE 💙

2026 marks the end of an era for much of the Metro FC women’s senior program.

On behalf of the club, we want to thank each and every player who has contributed to what has been an enjoyable, successful and incredibly important women’s program over many years.

As many of our older ladies hang up the boots and bring some stellar careers to a close, we want to wish them all the very best for whatever comes next. ❤️

We hope to continue seeing many of you around the club for years to come — supporting, cheering from the sidelines and being part of the Metro family just as loudly as ever!

While losing many familiar faces is certainly a sad moment, it also presents an exciting opportunity.

💙 WE’RE LOOKING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF METRO WOMEN!

Metro FC is very much on the hunt for new and younger players who are keen to make their mark at the club, enjoy their football and be part of a great group of friends, teammates and families.

We already have a number of younger girls who are keen to continue playing women’s football in 2027, and we’d love to add some new faces to the group.

Whether you’re an experienced player or completely new to senior football, we want to hear from you!

We’re looking to build a promising women’s program for 2027 and beyond, with opportunities for players of all skill levels and experience.

👧 GIRLS FOOTBALL IS GROWING AT METRO!

We’re incredibly excited about the continued growth of our junior girls program and the opportunities that presents for the future.

For 2027, we’re looking to add some more young players to an all-girls Under 8 team.

If you have a girl born in 2017 who is keen to play alongside other girls, we’d love to hear from you!

Whether it’s her first year playing soccer or she’s already had a few seasons under her belt, everyone is welcome. ⚽️💙

We’re also extremely keen to establish a Girls Youth team in 2027.

With 9 girls currently involved across our Under 12 program, we’re hopeful we can continue that growth and provide a dedicated girls pathway into youth football.

If you have a female player born in 2013, 2014 or 2015 who would be eligible and interested in playing in a girls youth side in 2027, we’d love to hear from you!

One of the standout comments from this week was just how fantastic it was to see five girls playing in our Under 12s — and with nine girls involved across the program, we’d love to see those numbers continue to grow.

We’d also love to see more females involved across all age groups at our club.

💙 THE FUTURE IS LOOKING BRIGHT

From our youngest girls taking their first steps onto the pitch, through to our senior women, we want Metro FC to be a place where females of all ages can enjoy football, make friends and feel part of our club.

Junior training continues with a slight twist as we welcome Holy Rosary U8s & U12s, along with Showtime Soccer U8s, to North Chigwell for some pre-Hobart Cup warm-up games! 🏆

We’ll also have our Members Draw from 7pm $25.00 up for grabs, alongside TWO meat trays kindly donated by Tasmanian Prime Meats! 🥩🔥

FRIDAY NIGHT 🔥
Our O35s will wrap up their season at home against South Hobart!
🕡 Kick-off: 6:30pm

SATURDAY ⚽
Our final CRJFA home games of the season take place, while Youth Football also wraps up their final rounds for 2026!

SUNDAY — CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDER! 🏆🔥
Our League 1 Men head to Wentworth Park, with kick-off from 12:15pm, hoping to secure the three points needed to bring home the Championship title! 💙

And then… HOBART CUP WEEKEND! 🏆⚽

Next weekend will be an action-packed finish to 2026 as we head into Hobart Cup and officially bring our on-field season to a close!

Over the first couple of months of the season, a number of items have found their way into our lost property collection from training sessions, match days and club activities.

If you think any of these items may belong to you or your family, please take a moment to have a look and collect them from the club over the coming weeks.

We’d love to see these items returned to their owners, so please help us spread the word among teammates, friends and family members.

Any unclaimed items remaining after a reasonable period will be donated, recycled or otherwise disposed of appropriately to help keep our storage areas organised.
