It is with immense pride and honour that we welcome Joanne Michel to the Melbourne Academy of the Arts Faculty.

Joanne is one of Australia’s most respected ballet educators and a true icon of the Australian ballet industry. Following an outstanding professional career as a Principal Artist with The Australian Ballet and later Nederlands Dans Theater, Joanne has dedicated more than 23 years to shaping the next generation of elite dancers at The Australian Ballet School.

As Ballet Mistress and Graduate Year (Level 8 teacher, Joanne has mentored and guided countless young artists into professional careers with many of the world’s leading ballet companies. Her knowledge, artistry, professionalism and dedication to excellence have influenced generations of dancers and educators alike.

To have an educator of Joanne’s calibre join the MAARTS Faculty is an incredible privilege and reflects our ongoing commitment to providing Australia’s next generation of dancers with access to the highest level of professional training.
