Morning all. I thought I’d do a little update since it’s been a while.
The postpartum journey continues and I feel it never really ends.
Everything is different now, for me anyway. The way I used to move my body and what I would put it through has changed. I physically can’t handle all I used to do but that’s ok. I have learnt to retrain my body to work probably in a better way than it used too. I’ve taken it back to basics and pretty much started again.
I still do physio, chiro and Accupunture too keep on top of pain I still get al related to giving birth.

I look back now 19mths later and remember crying and feeling so down I’ll never be able to do what I once loved but now I can! It’s all very daunting especially after that first child because you don’t know what your body can achieve after. I have up on worrying about what my body looked like and focused more on what it can do. Then the other morning the stars all aligned, The lighting was correct, I’d slept enough, trained enough, eaten enough carbs, and woke up like this (it’s like an eclipse, it only happens every now and then lol). The old me, the old strong fit body, it’s is still there and it feels good. It’s good to know you don’t have to thrash your body with training and starve yourself to look your best. You just have to be kind to yourself and be consistent.

I always say to my clients shift your focus away from the scales and focus on how you feel, how much energy you have now you train and fuel yourself correctly. Focus on living a happy, healthy life and the rest will follow.

It’s not about what you look like but when these moment happen, you achieve a goal, don’t be ashamed to share it. It’s your journey and no one can’t knock you for being the best version of yourself, what ever shape, size, fitness you are. If it’s what you want for yourself that’s all that matters.

Do you ever stop to think what your health means to you?

I’ve had some very interesting chats lately with clients, my husband and just observing people in general over my years in the industry.

Especially coming out of this global coronavirus drama I’ve notice many people don’t value their own health and wellness as they should.

As soon as businesses reopened every man and their dogs were eager to go get their hair done, nails did, Botox, eyebrows wax etc (I know I was ready for this), but then when it came to fitness “I’m going to have to cancel, I just can’t afford it at the moment”, this might be the case for some but for many it just isn’t high enough up the priority list for them to invest. Why not?

When people are told “I have a product that can be injected into your skin and will get rid of the wrinkles for $300-$500, but you’ll have to do that again every 3-6mths”, seems reasonable I’ll take it!.
“I can cut and colour your hair and make it look shiny for about $100-$300, but you will need to do this every 6 weeks to stay on top of it” No problem.
“Long or short nails? What colour?, $40-60 every 2-3weeks”, I love it!!
“I can get someone to cook you and your partner a really nice snitzel with tomato sauce on it and cheese with a side of deep fried chips from the super market, throw in a couple of drinks $100 + for the night, you could make this yourself at home for about $10 but you neeeed this”, I’ll come twice a week if ok?

“Gym membership, full access to using the thousands of $$$ of equipment, you also get an expert in the field to show you how to do the exercises correctly and get best results to make sure you don’t get injured, we will also help you stay accountable. You will make friends, feel better within yourself, get fitter, lose weight, be healthier, be stronger physically and mentally, live longer, have nicer skin and hair, plus so much more just $20-50 a week”, WOAH that’s a rip off!

It’s a real shame people don’t value their health and fitness. If I sold all that a healthy active lifestyle gave you in a pill or at the beauty salon I would be a millionaire.

Now more then ever don’t you want to be healthier for your family, don’t you want to live longer, and if you had the chance to do everything within your powers to be here for your family, your children, to be part of their lives longer, wouldn’t you? I know I would/do everyday. It’s not about the fatloss, it’s not just about the fitness it’s about being the best version of me, now for my daughter and my family. If I’m happy, healthy, fit I’m a better mum, a better role model, a better partner.

It’s so easy to get caught up as a parent, especially a mum doing everything for your kids we forget about ourselves. Spending a little bit of money each week to help you be your best is the least you can do. As the saying goes, “you think wellness is expensive, wait and see how expensive illness is”.

In my experience, signing up to a gym, or personal trainer (more then once a week), helps keep you accountable. People that don’t commit are less likely to do anything. So many people say “I’ll just do it at home”, or “I’ll go here because it’s cheaper or free”. These are good ways to not commit, we don’t mind committing to cheap or free things because then if we don’t use it we don’t lose money, but how about you just commit, be held accountable, be an adult and be responsible for your own body and just use it then you aren’t “wasting”money.

We only have ONE body, ONE shot at life why not take care of yourself inside and out and give life your best GO!
