Thinking about getting into climbing?
Climb Time is the perfect starting point for younger climbers, families and anyone newer to climbing. Build confidence, movement and develop real climbing skills that quickly carry across to the rest of the gym.
Each session has auto belays to take care of the ropes, and with our caving and spider mountain… plenty to keep everyone busy. A pretty great place to start climbing we think! 🧗

Throwback to some past projects around the gym… plenty more on the way. This week the red boxes got a reset. Fully horizontal climbing, and always a test piece around the gym.
This one’s lead climbing only. Get amongst it this weekend!

Climbers… It’s time to get back on the Kilter Board!
If you haven’t jumped on in a while, you might notice things look a little different. The Kilter Board app had a bit of a rocky transition earlier this year, but things are well and truly up and running.
The current app is completely separate from the old one, so if it’s been a while you’ll need to create a new account before getting started. From there, find a climb, connect to the board, light it up and get climbing.
If you’re having trouble getting connected or finding your way around the new app, come and have a chat with the team, we’ll point you in the right direction.
Otherwise, consider this your sign to get downstairs and put the Kilter Board to work this weekend. 💡🧗

Just in case you missed it… new routes open from 4pm today 👀
A big double set downstairs, with fresh top rope and lead routes across the vertical walls, Lead Roof and back corner. Plenty of new projects waiting for you this weekend! Enjoy ☺️

2022–2026. These past few years have brought plenty of change, new faces and exciting chapters to the gym.
With lockdowns in the rear view, our youth program continues to shape a huge part of life at Bayside, with classes, competitions and a busy community of emerging climbers. Bayside is stoked to see so many crushers!
Womxn’s Night has evolved into a valued and inclusive event for climbers to meet, climb and connect.
Around the gym, things changed too. Downstairs moved across to the Ewbank grading system, GriGris entered the gym, and the Kilter Board found its first home tucked in the attic before eventually making the move downstairs to a dedicated training area.
Climbing returned to the Olympic stage in Paris 2024, with both athletes calling Victoria their stomping ground. Awesome to see!
In the local community, Bayside supports countless schools, clubs, scouts and organisations of all kinds to access climbing. Many of which enjoyed it so much, they are now on a first-name-basis with staff and have joined the regular crowd.
More recently, Bayside entered a new era with Cam Davies taking ownership of the gym. Cam has a long history and involvement at Bayside Rock and love for climbing. Congratulations on a pretty special first chapter so far, and on taking on the responsibility of carrying Bayside going forward. It’s a second home to many!
It’s easy to focus on what physically changed. Walls, holds, boards, grades and equipment, however Bayside’s history has always been just as much about the people.
Plenty more history in these walls!

Need a new pair of shoes? Perhaps a little treat to self with a new Black Diamond harness? We’ve got you covered. 👀
Our gear shop is small, but mighty. The best part is having our staff right there to help steer you in the right direction.
Buying your first pair of climbing shoes can be tricky, and getting the sizing just right is even trickier. Some things are simply better done in person, where you can try a few options, ask questions and find what actually works for you.
After something in particular but don’t see it on our shelves? Have a chat with the team. We may be able to order it in for you… saving you shipping, letting you use your member discount, and supporting your local climbing gym at the same time. Win, win, win.
We’ve always been pretty proud of our little gear shop. It’s the kind of place where you can order a full trad rack or just pick up your very first chalk bag.
Next time you’re in, have a browse. 🧗

A few of our fantastic coaches in action this week 🧗
From new climbers through to experienced competitors, our coaches work with a wide range of classes, and their hard work deserves a shout out!
Our youth program has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of. It’s become a welcoming community where climbers can build confidence, develop skills and foster a lifelong love of climbing.
Word has spread and the interest continues to grow, and many of our classes have waitlists. If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining for next term, have a chat with our staff to learn more about the programs we offer.
