Gold Coast Basketball is incredibly proud to congratulate Gold Coast junior Brodie McGregor, who has signed with the Illawarra Hawks as a Development Player for the next two NBL seasons.

Brodie’s basketball journey began right here on the Gold Coast, pulling on the Gold Coast representative jersey as an Under 12 junior and progressing through our junior representative pathway.

Along the way, Brodie has represented Queensland at junior level, continuing to develop his game and establish himself as one of the exciting young talents coming through the Australian basketball pathway.

Most recently, Brodie has been an important part of our Gold Coast Rollers NBL1 North program, including being part of the Rollers’ 2026 NBL1 North Championship team and competing at the NBL1 Nationals in Adelaide this weekend.

His signing with the Hawks is another significant step in a journey that started on the courts of Gold Coast Basketball many years ago. To see one of our own juniors progress from Under 12 representative basketball through the Queensland pathway, NBL1 and now into an NBL environment is something our entire association can be proud of.

Congratulations Brodie on this fantastic opportunity. We look forward to following the next chapter of your career and watching you continue to represent the Gold Coast basketball community at the next level.

Fresh off an NBL1 North championship with the Gold Coast Rollers, the 19-year-old joins the Illawarra Hawks as a development player for the next two seasons, pending league approval.

A new Hawk, a championship pedigree, and plenty to look forward to. 👀

On Monday 3 August, Gold Coast Basketball had the privilege of hosting the Steven Adams Camps bringing together 800 young basketball players for an experience they won’t soon forget.

The day was made even more significant as it marked the first Steven Adams Community Camp to be held outside New Zealand, and we are incredibly proud that the Gold Coast was able to be part of this milestone.
A huge thank you to Steven Adams for bringing the camp to the Gold Coast and, most importantly, for the generosity, authenticity and time he gave to the young people who attended.
We are incredibly grateful to the entire Steven Adams Group for trusting Gold Coast Basketball to help deliver such a significant event and for the enormous amount of work that happens behind the scenes to make these camps possible.
A special thank you to Meadow Fresh whose support of Steven’s Quick Brekkie drinks helps support these community initiatives and the opportunities they provide for young people.
We would also like to thank Denise Saba (catch n kiss Photography) for capturing so many incredible moments throughout the day, and 2.0 Events for providing the media coverage and music that helped create such a fantastic atmosphere.
To our amazing volunteer coaches and staff — thank you. Delivering a quality experience for 800 players takes a huge team, and your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to give your time played an enormous role in making the day such a success.
We would also like to sincerely acknowledge the support of the City of Gold Coast Sports Venues and their staff, along with Basketball Queensland. Events of this scale only happen when great people and organisations work together, and we are extremely grateful for their support.
Most importantly, 800 young basketballers had the opportunity to be part of something very special, and that is what this day was all about.
