Please take the time to read this beautiful tribute to Elsie Girl. Steve picked her out online and snagged a bargain, put a great group of owners together and they have loved and admired this horse every day since. Steve will continue to care for and love her into her retirement as she goes on to breed a future legacy. I am proud and honoured to have been her only trainer and grateful for the ride she took us on. This is how horse ownership should be, love and respect the horse first, the racing thrills second. Good luck and thank you Elsie, can't wait to see your babies.❤️
Elsie Girl — Her Final Race
By Steve Pretty
The morning sun is shining,
The track is calling her name,
And Elsie Girl is stepping out,
For one last dance of fame.
A beautiful horse, with a gentle eye,
And fire that still burns bright,
She’s carried dreams and memories,
Through many a racing flight.
With So You Think there in her blood,
A champion in her line,
And through her third dam’s family tree,
Runs a history divine.
For she shares that special bloodline,
With Kingston Town, the great,
A champion whose name lives on,
In racing halls of fate.
Now Elsie Girl walks towards the gate,
Her head held proud and high,
And every step upon that track,
Feels like a last goodbye.
She may not know this race is different,
Or that it’s her final call,
She’ll simply do what horses do —
Give everything, give all.
So let the barriers fly open,
Let the thunder fill the air,
Let Elsie Girl run free today,
With grace beyond compare.
And win or lose, the story's hers,
A mare we'll not forget,
For some horses leave a legacy,
Long after they've left the track.
So go on, Elsie Girl, one final time,
Let your colours proudly unfurl,
Run like the beautiful horse you are —
Our very special Elsie Girl.
And when you cross that finish line,
Whatever place you take,
You'll always be a champion
For every heart you made awake.
