As part of their Melbourne trip, our Year 10 boys had the opportunity to attend a Melbourne Football Club training session yesterday, where they met players, collected a few autographs, and gained an insight into life at the AFL level.

Making the experience even more special was the chance to catch up with former Carine player Luker Kentfield, whose recent AFL debut has been a source of great pride for our club. Seeing one of our own now wearing the red and blue was a powerful reminder of where hard work, perseverance, and a love for the game can lead.

A huge thank you to Melbourne Football Club and the incredible players for taking the time to make our boys feel so welcome. Moments like these create memories that last a lifetime.

This year’s Year 10 group became the first since COVID to once again take on Greensborough JFC in Melbourne, competing for the Lew Hall Memorial Plaque, a fixture that honours a man whose passion for junior football helped forge the long-standing relationship between our two clubs.

For generations of Carine players, the Melbourne Trip has been about far more than football. It’s about friendships, shared experiences, and celebrating the connection between two community clubs that has endured for decades. A huge thank you to everyone at Greensborough JFC for your wonderful hospitality, we’re proud to continue this tradition together.

Introduced in 2023 and designed in close collaboration with one of our former Carine families, our “Carine Pinjar Boodjar” Indigenous jumper tells the story of our club, our local environment, and the journey of every young footballer who represents Carine Junior Football Club.

The design reflects our home within the Carine Regional Open Space, with the lakes and waterways woven throughout the artwork, while the meeting place symbol on the front represents our club as a place where people come together. The footprints symbolise the journeys of our players, from Auskick through to adult football, and the stars celebrate our club’s history and the continued growth of our girls program.

Created by former Carine player Jada Pedersen (Noongar & Njamal) in close collaboration with her mother, Naomi Garlett (Noongar & Yamatji), we are incredibly proud to wear this guernsey during both Round 10 and Round 11 as we acknowledge the history, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Australia and to this great game of ours.

🏉 Round 10 Fixtures 💙💛❤️🖤

Round 10 marks the first of two NAIDOC Rounds, with our teams once again proudly wearing the Carine JFC Indigenous jumper. Keep an eye out for the striking design, created by former Carine player Jada Pedersen (Noongar & Njamal) in collaboration with her mother, Naomi Garlett (Noongar & Yamatji). It celebrates our club’s connection to Country, our history, and the journeys of the young footballers who come through our program.

Games to follow this weekend… 👀

• Y09/10 Girls return home full of confidence after producing what coaches described as their best performance of the season, with relentless pressure and outstanding team defence.

• Y08 Blue will look to build on one of the comebacks of the season after storming home from four goals down to defeat Marist.

• Y07 Blue return to Beach Oval aiming to continue their impressive run of form after another disciplined team performance built on strong defence and midfield control.

Best of luck to all players, coaches, team managers, umpires and volunteers. We look forward to another fantastic weekend of community football.

Our Auskick girls had an amazing time representing Carine JFC at the WA Football All Girls Gala Day last weekend, joining around 500 participants from nearly 50 clubs in a celebration of the rapidly growing girls game. From taking the field alongside AFLW and WAFLW players to collecting autographs and creating lasting memories, it was an experience they won’t soon forget.

A big thank you to WA Football for putting together such a wonderful event and providing another opportunity for our girls to connect, play and be inspired. We can’t wait for the next one!
