A historic moment for Gippsland Track Club! 🥉

For the first time since 2009, GTC is back on the national open podium, with Charles Leahy, Zali Metcalfe, James Leahy and Elly Fleming combining to win bronze in the Australian Cross Country Open Mixed Relay Championship.

The team environment has always been the backbone of Gippsland Track Club, so to see four of our athletes come together, race for each other and earn a national medal as Gippsland Track Club makes this one especially special.

We couldn’t be prouder of this group and what they represented in the teal. A huge moment for the club, and one we’re incredibly excited to celebrate together now and into the future.

Congratulations to Oscar Woodhouse, your 2026 Australian U16 Cross Country Silver Medallist! 🥈

Oscar adds another national XC medal to his collection after finishing 2nd in Launceston in 2024 and taking gold in Ballarat in 2025.

It was another outstanding run from Oscar, who made all the right moves through the tough, muddy conditions to claim silver behind a brilliant run from NSW’s Phillip Botonis.

Arguably one of the toughest sporting events in Australia, given both the depth of competition and the physical demands of cross country.

Record books rewritten in Monaco! Elly Fleming lowered her own GTC 1000m record with a victory in the Herculis Elite 1000m at the premeet of the Monaco Diamond League’s Meeting International d’Athlétisme Herculis. In the same race, Jerusha Jason delivered a huge performance, running 3:01.92 to move to #3 on the GTC all-time list while placing 9th.
