Tuggeranong Skatepark

The Draft ACT Skate Strategy is live, and this is our biggest opportunity in over a decade to shape the future of skateboarding and skateparks in Canberra!

The ACT Government is asking for our community’s feedback via a YourSay survey. For years, we’ve fought for a coordinated approach to our facilities, some of our current parks are outdated, in disrepair, or lacking modern street elements. This strategy is the direct result of community advocacy and an official inquiry into our local skateparks.

ACT government needs to hear directly from skateboarders and skatepark users. If we want high-quality and modern skateparks, spots and spaces in Canberra, we have to demand them.

🛹 What we could to tell them:

* Build new public skateparks: No new public skateparks have been built in the ACT for 15 years.
* Fix up our current public skateparks: Many of our existing facilities are getting older and need better maintenance.
* Modern design features: We need contemporary street elements, transition features, proper lighting, and integrated shade. What else would you like to see?
* More skate elements in recreation spaces: We need skateable spaces, paths, and elements integrated safely into local playgrounds and town centres.

Heads up! ACT Government have let us know that there will be intermittent works at Tuggeranong and Charnwood skateparks between now and October. There might be temporary closures during this time. It’s a surface remediation involving concrete grind-back and crack repair. Resealing will happen in October and we expect updates then. The contractor is Arnex Earthworks.
