Big thanks to Birchwood Equestrian for letting us take the Big Dingus š¼ for a bit of a play today. Grateful to have Vicki and Stinker there to help out. Slowly but surely things are starting to come together, looking forward to getting out and about to more shows soon!
A lovely day out at the ACTSJC Melissa McPherson Trophy - Round 2 yesterday.
First time out for Big D š¼ and while we clocked up a fair few time faults in both his rounds, I was super pleased with how he is developing. He is getting stronger and is slowly becoming more adjustable in the canter. Excited for what the future might bring for this fella! Archibald š° was once again a superstar. He rounded out the Melissa McPherson series with 4 x š„ in all 4 of his classes; he really is a bloody little legend!
Archibald š° feeling like he hasnāt skipped a beat over his winter show break at the HARA Equine comp day today. Fat ginger jockey however is very rusty!! Big thanks to Jessica Stalling JS Equestrian and Hills Wildlife Sanctuary for their sponsorship for our classes today!

Our new lad Dennis š»āāļø, aka Big D, had his first little outing with us today for a bit of a play down at Waverley Park Equine. Lots to like about this big, raw youngster, and excited to see what the next few months holds as he gets stronger and figures things out.

Archibald š° was his usual consistent self in finishing reserve champion in the Category B Amateur pointscore at the Camden Winter Showjumping Festival last weekend. A fun time with a great bunch of people and one of my favourite shows in the calendar. Thanks to Jane Frankum and crew for their hard work in making it such a success! š·: Oz Shotz

10 x extendable round portable horse yard rails. Each rail measures 3250mm extended and only 1750mm when not making them the perfect size to fit in the back of the ute for easy transport. Comes with plenty of pins. Having 10 means you can make a range of different size options including up to 3 yards that are 3250mm x 3250mm, 2 x larger or 1 x massive yard at a show. 14.2-16hh 7-14yo Interschools superstar for competent junior. No thin skin or itch as coastal home. Mare or gelding
16.2.hh + up to 13yo 1.25m mount for tall junior, no OTTBās preferred.
16.3hh plus WB 4-6yo SJ young horse, been out and done a bit, under saddle quirks are fine, good on ground. Geldings only
All of the above are circa $25-30k budgets and people are actively looking.

Little Archibald doing his thing again on the weekend; being cute, jumping clear, coming home with ribbons and ignoring my trash riding...... So good to be back at it!

60 days ago, after our blip at the Canberra Royal, my left shoulder got the full rebuild package, itās full of titanium bolts and buttons and strapped together with kevlar ā¦ possibly a sign from the universe it was time to stop playing silly buggers and take up lawn bowlsā¦ā¦
Today, it got a test run at the Waverley Park Equine training day. Nothing wild, just a couple of small 1m courses, but enough to test things by blowing the cobwebs out and remind myself I still canāt see a stride.
Massive shoutout to our Archibald š°who came out confident, honest, and far more mentally stable than his rider after our little incident. And if you know how mentally unstable Archie can be at times youāll understand thatās not saying much about my own state of mind. ššš
Horses really do have a way of meeting you where youāre at ā even when youāre bringing a fair bit of baggage back into the saddle, and Archie has been a saint since day 1 of getting back on.
Because hereās the bit we donāt talk about enough: after a proper fall, itās not just bones that need fixing. As you get older, the mental game gets louder. The āwhat ifsā creep in, the hesitation lingers a fraction longer, and suddenly something that used to feel automatic takes conscious effort. Confidence isnāt lost all at once, it leaks out quietly whilst youāre waiting to get back on.
But getting back on isnāt just physical rehab, itās rebuilding trust. In your body, your horse, and your own judgement. And some days, just turning up is the win.
Grateful for a good surgeon, a good physio, a good horse, and my wonderful Stinker for continuing to blindly back me every step of the way (and probably resisting the urge to bubble wrap me permanently).
Hereās to a quiet, uneventful winter of showsā¦ preferably with all limbs and synthetic parts intact and no more bloody carriage ponies!!
