There’s a lot packed into the second half of a Blue 1 lesson!
Alongside developing their swimming technique, our swimmers work on a mix of stroke foundations, safe recovery skills and confidence in different areas of the water.
In Part 2 of Blue 1, you’ll see:
💙 Kicking on their back with a kickboard
💙 Soldier arms on their back
💙 Jump and recover to the edge
💙 Jump, roll and float
💙 Dive sticks (because learning should always be fun!)
From learning to move efficiently on their back to knowing how to recover after a jump, each skill builds on what our swimmers already know and gives them more ways to feel capable and confident in the water.
Strong swimming skills AND strong water safety skills - that’s what Blue 1 is all about!
Turns out “sit on the chair without moving your feet” is a lot harder than it sounds 😂
Safe to say, some of us understood the assignment better than others
Big arms can look simple, but there’s a lot going on behind the scenes!
Miss Nicole walks us through how we introduce big arms for the first time in our lessons, breaking the skill down step-by-step before bringing it all together. It’s one of the trickier skills to master when learning to swim, especially once we start adding in a side breath - which is why building the movement correctly from the beginning is so important!
She can do it all 💁♀️
Official title: Swim Teacher
Unofficial title: Jack of all trades 😆
Teacher, handyman, detective, doctor, cheerleader… there’s never a dull day around here 😂
We wouldn’t have it any other way!
This moment wasn’t planned, and that’s exactly why it matters.
While filming some jump content, Charlie jumped a little further than expected and realised he wasn’t going to make it straight to the mat. With a prompt from Miss Nicole, he independently rolled onto his back, got some air, regained control and then continued swimming to the edge.
Charlie was completely safe the entire time, with Miss Nicole right there and ready to assist if needed, but he nailed his roll and float straight away!
A real, unplanned moment showing exactly why we teach survival skills. So when things don’t go to plan, our swimmers have the skills to respond 💙
There was A LOT of excitement at our Camden morning session! So much progress, very proud kids and plenty of high fives along the way 🙌
