One thing we absolutely love seeing is that, even after 7 years, our swimmers are still here — whether they’ve stayed with us or found their way back. They’re still swimming, still improving, still learning, and getting better every day! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

And now, 7 years later, both Jess & Indigo are proudly part of our Gold Squad!

A Week of Swimming, Friendship & Fun

PWC swimmers had the absolute honour of welcoming a selection of swimmers from New Caledonia to our pool for a week following the QLD Short Course Championships.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our PWC and Caledonian swimmers to train, have fun and create new friendships together each afternoon. 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️

This morning was the final training session together, and what better way to finish the week than with a pancake breakfast! 🥞

A huge thank you to our friends from New Caledonia for sharing the pool, the laughs and the memories with us. We hope you’ve enjoyed your time at PWC as much as we have!

What an incredible four days of racing for our 33 Pelicans swimmers at the 2026 QLD Short Course Championships!

We are extremely proud of these swimmers achieved. Across the meet, there were numerous Top 10 finishes, personal bests, and outstanding performances in the pool.

The weekend was a fantastic reflection of what it means to be a Pelican — pushing ourselves, racing with determination, learning from every swim, and most importantly, supporting one another every step of the way.

To be ranked amongst the Top 25 swimmers in Australia is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the commitment, perseverance, and hard work these athletes put in every single day.

These results don't happen by chance. They are the product of countless early mornings, long training sessions, unwavering dedication, and the incredible support from our coaches, families, and teammates throughout the season.

2026 PWCSC New Caledonia Camp
(Day 14 - 15)

Tonight marked our final full day here in New Caledonia!

The swimmers had just one session today, finishing the camp with one final hard training session in the pool.

This afternoon, we headed to a local bouldering gym for a rock climbing session. It was a fantastic experience and a great complementary activity for swimming.

Bouldering develops problem-solving skills, teaches athletes how to find and use points of support, improves body awareness and movement in different environments, and requires plenty of core control, balance, and the ability to stay relaxed under pressure. It was great to see everyone challenge themselves, encourage one another, and step outside their comfort zones.

After working up an appetite, the swimmers enjoyed one last taste of the local cuisine with some delicious crêpes before heading back to our accommodation.

Tonight, we'll be watching part of the State of Origin together, and I'm sure there will be plenty of fun, friendly banter, and passionate commentary!

This camp has been an incredible experience for both the swimmers and the coaches. It wasn't just about improving skills in the water—it was about developing independence, resilience, teamwork, and valuable life skills while adapting to a new environment and being away from home.

Throughout the trip, the swimmers have shown outstanding behaviour, maturity, and accountability. They have represented both themselves and our club exceptionally well, and we hope they leave New Caledonia not only as better athletes, but also with lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and experiences that will stay with them forever.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to New Caledonia and begin our journey home, taking with us everything we've learned both in and out of the pool. 🏊🇦🇺🌴

2026 PWCSC New Caledonia Camp
(Day 13 -15)

Today was another busy and enjoyable day for our team in New Caledonia as we head into the final days of our trip.

After this morning's training session, we stopped by a local bakery for a well-deserved treat before relaxing at the marina and watching the boats go by.

This afternoon's swim focused on race skills and speed, with plenty of quality work before finishing the session with some fun relay races. It was a fantastic way to wrap up training, with lots of teamwork, friendly competition, and plenty of smiles all around.

In the evening, the swimmers were invited to the Tjibaou Cultural Centre to watch Kangaroo, giving everyone a chance to experience another part of New Caledonian culture together.

Tomorrow is our final full day in New Caledonia, and we're looking forward to making the most of every moment before it's time to head home. What an amazing experience this trip has been! 🏊🎬✨
