Run Port Douglas WHAT A DAY! ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐
๐โ๏ธ
Our next event on the calendar and the GETFIT crew were yet again out in full force! ๐๐ผ
Half marathon, 10km and 5km โ๏ธ Warm conditions, hills and sand made for a very unique race, but what an epic course and stunning finish line on 4 mile beach ๐ด
So proud of everyone on another solid training block! Some people coming off the back of Cairns, for others, this was the A-race. Some training with the squad each week, others getting out and doing it on their own. But everyone staying accountable, showing up for themselves and getting it done. The commitment, mindset and attitude of my team is next to none.

THE GALS TAKE ON SYDNEY MARATHON! ๐ฆ๐บ
Girls trip!!! ๐งณโ๏ธ๐
Itโs taken a few days to actually let this all sink in! ๐ฎโ๐จ
5 of our girls were lucky enough to get a spot in the Sydney Marathon this year and experience an Abbott World Marathon Major on home soil! The event was nothing short of spectacular- 40,000 runners from all parts of the world, with a course that took us over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, down the iconic city streets, through Centenary Park and the Botanical Gardens, and finishing at the Opera House with arguably the best marathon finish line in the world! The energy of the on-course entertainment and lines of spectators for 42.2km was something you will only ever experience at a World Major. We are still on a high from the entire weekend!
A big congratulations to Amy and Sandy who both completed their very first marathon!
Renee completed her 5th marathon, Densie her 15th and Coach Kryssi completed number 36.
[Results post to comeโฆ]
How special to have this experience together!
Sydney, we canโt wait to do it all over again next year! ๐๐ผ

A decent weekend for 3 of our crew!! ๐

Congratulations Sean & Kate, who both ran their first ever marathon in Cairns 3 weeks ago, and backed up with the The Great Pyramid Race on Saturday!
Sean conquered the full pyramid race ๐ฎโ๐จ whilst Kate took on the half distance, also claiming a podium finish in 2nd placed female! Epic work guys!
Both have sore legs now btw ๐
๐
Meanwhile, on Sunday, our man Baz, who was also coming off his 42.2km pacing job at the Cairns Marathon - absolutely nailed the Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival with an extraordinary 15 minute PB! Very well deserved Baz! โจ
Another inspirational weekend for our team ๐๐ค

Every single one deserves their own spotlight. Every single one has their own story of what it took to reach the start line.
For most, the journey was anything but smooth. It was filled with hurdles, setbacks, self-doubt and moments where giving up would have been the easier option.
The commitment. The training. The discipline. The mindset. None of it came easy.
Behind every finish line photo are countless early mornings, late nights, missed social events, tired legs, sacrifices made by families, and the decision to keep showing up, even when motivation wasnโt always there.
So incredibly proud of this team.
What a privilege itโs is to be part of the journey.
Onto the next!

Our girls crushed their races at Gold Coast Marathon
Kaekae Tagliaferri stepped up into her very first half marathon and the result was one she had not even considered before our conversation the night before ๐ She had put in an interrupted training block, and was capable of running at a pace that would get her a sub 2 hour time. Running at that pace for 21.1km scared the hell out of her but it was up to her to be brave, take the risk, and believe in herself.
She crossed the line in 1.59.40 ๐ฅ Say no more. Absolute weapon.
Kim Powe-Hobbs is a MARATHONER!
Iโve trained a lot of people for their first marathon. Itโs my favourite type of runner to coach- fresh, raw and willing to learn and grow. Kimโs progress over the past 6 months has been very impressive- physically- ticked all the boxes in training, improved fitness- from 21km to 30km and into the longer 3+ hour runs. She got faster. But mentally it didnโt come easy. Constantly doubting herself and not seeing her true potential. This was her biggest barrier. Weโve worked hard on this and marathon training definitely tests every aspect of mental strength!
Today, she took on board everything I told her in our final race plan chat, left the conversation with confidence (even though it scared her!) , and then went out and executed a literal perfect marathon!! ๐๐ผ Consistently paced the entire race, showed patience in the first half and courage in the second half. Crossing the line in 4.03 which is beyond all her expectations (which was that she wasnโt going to finish!) So proud of you Kim- all your hard work paid off because you BELIEVED IN YOURSELF ๐ฅฒโจ
Kylie Whitley in her 19th marathon, ran a very impressive race once again. She cracked a PB half marathon in 1.35 ๐ฎโ๐จHolding a strong pace until 35km when stomach cramps kicked in and she just couldnโt hold on. Not a marathon PB but a GC course PB and a superb 3.16.00 - getting her 10th in her age group โจโจโจ Well done Kylie. The best is yet to come ๐ฅ
Thankyou girls for giving our crew the best motivation and inspiration for the big 7Cairns Marathon Festival next weekend.
