🍦 VENDOR ANNOUNCEMENT #5 — Ice Cream Taxi 🍦

Get ready for a little old-school ice cream magic because Ice Cream Taxi is coming to Cairns On A Fork – Fork Around The Ground!

Ice Cream Taxi began long before the name existed. Back in 2001, an unexpected opportunity opened the door to the world of ice cream for the owner Chris. What started with scooping at markets soon made its way into a van.

Their story is built on tradition, passion, hard work and a whole lot of love for what they do. Chris's training came directly from original 1960s Melbourne Mr Whippy driver Bob Staff, who spent more than 60 years in the game. It was a true old-school apprenticeship, learning the craft from someone who knew it inside and out. ❤️

For more than two decades, Ice Cream Taxi has kept that tradition rolling, scooping and serving from some seriously iconic vans, including the beautiful English-made, timber-framed Commer Karrier vans.

And let's be honest… there’s something pretty magical about an ice cream van. The music starts, the excitement kicks in and suddenly we're all kids again trying to decide what delicious treat we're getting!

We’re so excited to have Ice Cream Taxi joining us and bringing a little bit of nostalgia, happiness and good old-fashioned ice cream fun to the event!

There’s something pretty special about food that comes from a genuine love of cooking, a love of good ingredients, and a love of sharing it with others. ❤️

We’re so excited to welcome Clint & Donnalee, travelling from Cardwell, to Cairns On A Fork – Fork Around The Ground!

Their journey started with their love of cooking and creating unique flavours, and a simple desire to feed people great food that makes them smile. That passion has grown into something truly special — taking wild-caught FNQ prawns and pairing them with local and homegrown ingredients to create fresh, generous meals bursting with flavour.

From lemon myrtle, finger lime and mango to ginger, garlic and chilli, every dish has its own personality and is created to let the beautiful flavours of North Queensland shine.

And for Clint & Donnalee, it’s not just about the food. It’s about supporting local, keeping things close to home and celebrating the incredible produce we have right here in North Queensland.

They source local and homegrown ingredients wherever they can, and every meal is prepared fresh on the day. Even their sauces and mayos are made completely from scratch — because they believe good food starts with good ingredients, plenty of care and a whole lot of love. ❤️

We absolutely love the heart behind what Clint & Donnalee do, and we’re thrilled they’re making the trip from Cardwell to be part of our event.

We’re incredibly excited to announce our first vendor for Cairns On A Fork — Richard’s Salt & Pepper!

And what better way to kick things off than with one of the true originals?

Richards Salt & Pepper Takeaway has been a family-run business for many years, becoming a familiar and much-loved name at markets, festivals and events right across the region. They’re the kind of local business that has been a mainstay of the Cairns community — and if you’ve been around the markets, chances are you’ve come across Richard and his famous food!

Serving up fresh salt & pepper calamari and, of course, his famous goat curry, Richard has built a reputation for good food, generous servings and that classic market food experience we all know and love.

Richard is also one of the original vendors of Cairns On A Fork, making his return particularly special. He was part of the event in its earlier days, and having him back with us as we bring Cairns On A Fork back is exactly what this event is all about.

It’s not just about food — it’s about local businesses, familiar faces, family-run operators and the people who have helped make Cairns’ food and event scene what it is.

And if you can’t wait until Cairns On A Fork to get your Richard’s Salt & Pepper fix, you can also visit the Richard’s Salt & Pepper shop at Holloways Beach, where the family continues to serve up all those favourites.
