We’re getting excited, nerves are bubbling, there’s not long to go until the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships - Brisbane kicks off at the Brisbane SX International BMX Centre.

These are the Cairns BMX Club riders who we’ll be following closely to see who can bring home the prized ‘W’ Plate.

The challenge class competition begins next Wednesday, but the event kicks off tomorrow when Sleeman SX comes alive with the start of the race for the rainbow jerseys with the Championship competition.

Welcome back to BMX for Term 3, 2026.

It’s going to be an exciting term!!

💚💛 We start off with 32 of our home club heroes representing Cairns at the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships - Brisbane, we can’t wait to see everyone give their all, racing with the best in the world. We’ll post more on that soon, with daily updates and viewing links for everyone at home to follow along.

⛔️ Our track is still closed while the Cairns Show is on 🎡 we’ll let you know as soon as we’re good to go back at the track for gates and coaching.

🏁 Our first race night is round 13 on Friday 24th July. Get ready to volunteer, all help is appreciated! If you’re a new Cairns Club member please join our ‘Cairns BMX Members and Volunteers page’ for all the information you need to become a Club official - so you can get involved and get your riders racing at our club events.

🌎 🇦🇺 We’re excited to see our Cairns BMX Club riders compete at the UCI BMX World Championships next week, but before that we get to see the best of the best on the track at Brisbane SX International BMX Centre this weekend.

The ARA Australian Cycling Team riders are an impressive team, with some being familiar friendly faces at the Cairns track.

We’re looking forward to seeing our home grown talent take on the world.

Our Cairns BMX Club track might be closed at the moment but luckily for us there’s plenty of great places to get your wheels out for a spin!

Thanks to the Cairns Regional Council, some of our fabulous local pump tracks and jumps have been freshly maintained.

Check out the jumps at Pyramid Parklands Gujara at Gordonvale and Fuller Park and Todd Park at Edmonton and the re-shaped jumps at Jeff Pezzutti Park Woree.

The Cairns BMX Club is CLOSED for the annual Cairns Show closure period.

There is no club gates, racing or usual coaching activity until we return for racing on Friday 24th July.
