This one is in recognition of some of our original — or close to original — members who are sadly no longer with us.
These paddlers were an important part of the early days of our club and made a huge contribution to building the Cairns Dragon Boat Club into what it is today. 🐉💙
Their commitment, friendship, enthusiasm and love of dragon boating helped shape our club and created memories that will always be treasured.
As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, it’s the perfect time to remember and honour those who helped pave the way for the generations of paddlers who followed 💙🐉

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing some memories, photos and special moments from the past 20 years of Cairns Dragon Boat Club.
There have been plenty of paddles, friendships, adventures, laughs and maybe a few sore muscles along the way! 😄

We feel incredibly lucky to have three of our Cairns Dragon Boat Club paddlers — Gail and Andrea, along with Kim as a supporter paddler — in beautiful Aix-les-Bains, France, participating in the IBCPC Festival. 🇫🇷🏔️🌊☀️🐉💕 Team Unity and Team Thrive supporters. 💕🤝🐉❤️
Today was a very special day as the Festival officially opened with the Opening Ceremony and Parade of Nations. 🎉🌍🇫🇷✨ And what an honour it was for Team Unity to be one of just two Australian teams selected to paddle in the Opening Parade of Nations! 🇦🇺🐉👏🥹

🌍 4,500 paddlers.
🌎 25 countries.
🐉 170 teams. 🇦🇺🐉✨

Paddling proudly alongside breast cancer survivors and supporters from around the world 🌍💕🐉, representing Australia 🇦🇺, our club 🐉 and our community ✨💗 To be chosen to take part in the Parade of Nations was a true honour and a moment they will never forget. 🥹🇦🇺🐉✨ There were plenty of smiles 😃, a few emotional moments 🥹💗 and an enormous sense of pride 🇦🇺 as they paddled together as Team Unity. 🐉💪💕🌏
