I have been practising Pilates for most of my adult life and began teaching in 2017. I love being part of people's Pilates journeys, whether a complete beginner or the more advanced, and am passionate about others discovering and continuing to enjoy the movement method. I chose to open my own studio in 2020 to provide a professional and specialised Pilates service to Cairns and continue my quest to make Pilates accessible, enjoyable and affordable for more people! I wanted to create a welcoming, non competitive environment with an emphasis on high quality Pilates tuition that reflects each individual's goals and level of ability. I firmly believe Pilates is for any body and EVERY body. With its adaptive and extensive repertoire the possibilities for creating appropriate and effective sessions for each client are endless. I am comprehensively (all equipment and mat) certified through BASI® Pilates* and was attracted to them because of their holistic approach and in depth training. BASI® preserves the classical Pilates repertoire and the essence of Joseph Pilates' philosophy while supplementing it with contemporary experience and scientific knowledge. The method also uses an approach known as the Block System™- a specialized 'filing' system for the hundreds of exercises in the Pilates repertoire with each block relating to a particular movement pattern or area of the body. By combining exercises or sequences from each block a well rounded, comprehensive and personalised session can be created that is appropriate and effective for the individual. The structure of all my classes is based around this flexible and innovative framework. Creating sessions that flow and progress in a way that suits each client is at the core of what I do.
