Cairns Target Shooting Club

Dear Members,

Wow what a month.
We would like to advise that the club will be closed to all members, with the exception of registered competitors, from Friday 17 July 2026 through to Sunday 19 July 2026 while we host our upcoming competition.
Unfortunately, this also means there will be no Friday Night Rimfire on Friday 17 July. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding while we conduct this event.
The response to the competition has been outstanding. We initially released 60 competitor places, which sold out in less than 24 hours. Due to the overwhelming demand, we were able to add a further 8 places, and these too were filled almost immediately. It is fantastic to see such strong support for the event and for our club.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our generous sponsors and supporters:
• Torres Live Cray for donating over $250 worth of tropical crayfish for our raffle. They have also donated an additional 10 crays to be served at our lunches.
• A1 Bookkeeping for donating a $250 Accor Hotel Voucher for our raffle.
All proceeds from these raffles will go directly back into the club to support future improvements and activities.
A special thank you also goes to Kubota Cairns for their generous donation of steel, which will be used to construct new range assets for the benefit of all members.
Our Black Powder and ISSF Open (PSQ SN: 26.22) will be held on Saturday 25 July and Sunday 26 July 2026.
For the duration of the event, Ranges 3, 4, 5 and the Air Pistol Range will be dedicated to the competition. All other ranges will remain available for use by members throughout the weekend.
Members using the club during this time are kindly asked to be mindful that a major competition will be taking place. Please be considerate of competitors, range officials and spectators, particularly during presentations and award ceremonies, to help ensure the event runs smoothly.
We are pleased to advise that Friday Night Rimfire will proceed as normal and is not affected by this event.
Interest in this year's Black Powder and ISSF Open has been exceptional, with competitors travelling from clubs across Queensland to take part. The event promises to showcase some of the state's finest shooters and will provide a fantastic weekend of high-level competition.

Members, families and guests
Just a reminder the WA1500 and Services Marathon will be held over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of June. The range will be closed to all but competitors, spectators and volunteers from Friday the 5th of June to allow for set up. That does mean Friday night rifles will not take place on the 5th of June.

Thank you everyone that turned up on Saturday for the working bee, we achieved a fair bit on the list of things to do. We will have to do another working bee soon so be prepared everyone we’ll set a date shortly. Thanks heaps everyone.

Just a reminder that the working bee is on this Saturday at the club and there is heaps to do, any help will make a difference. There will be a sausage sizzle for lunch as well. Hope to see you there.
