It's been a hot minute since I've posted, and honestly, a lot of the time, the world feels too large, too heavy and everything I could possibly offer or share in a little square box on your screen is insignificant.

I know this is not true though. I know we have to keep showing up, keep speaking up about injustice and keep resourcing one another.

If yoga teaches us anything, it's that social justice IS yoga and yoga IS social justice.

We can't move about our days untouched by what we see, hear & experience.

I am deeply grateful to be safe and free and hope that we keep embodying the principles of Ahimsa, Satya, and the other limbs of yoga.

The history of Yoga Nidra dates back to ancient yogic traditions, rooted in the ancient texts known as the Vedas and the Upanishads. The practice of deep relaxation and conscious sleep has been mentioned in various yogic and spiritual texts throughout history.

Through a series of gentle postures, deep breathing, and guided meditation, Yoga Nidra helps you tap into the layers of your subconscious mind, awakening your innate potential for healing and growth.

As you lie comfortably, allowing your body to completely let go, the practice of Yoga Nidra enables you to experience a profound state of relaxation, similar to the moments just before you drift off to sleep.

Scientific research has shown that practicing Yoga Nidra activates the body's relaxation response, leading to a reduction in stress hormones like cortisol. This state of deep relaxation promotes better sleep, lowers blood pressure, and improves overall well-being.

Friends!

Are you in need of some deep rest and relaxation? I invite you to join me for an exclusive 2-hour Yin and Yoga Nidra class that emphasizes the power of stillness and quietness.

During the session, we will gradually enter into long-held poses, allowing our bodies to release tension and stress. Subsequently, we will transition into a guided Yoga Nidra practice, where we will cultivate a profound sense of relaxation and inner tranquillity. ✨️

This class is ideal for anyone seeking to recharge and rejuvenate their body, mind, and soul. Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, come as you are and leave feeling revitalized and replenished.

The class takes place at the lovely Kynd Studio in Edge Hill.

The fee is $35 per person, and the spaces are limited. πŸ’•

✨️ Nourish. Restore. Release. ✨️

Yin offers us the opportunity to move deeper into our being.
To nourish our mind and body.
To explore the subtle shifts of energy and to make space for ourselves.
To practice the art of simply being still.

My favourite part of my asana practice is the space I lovingly create to be with my breath and my body. The luscious space to be free to move (or be still) and to become aware of my internal landscape as the dust settles in my mind.

The three principles of yin yoga as described by Bernie Clark.

1. Finding our edge. Not pain, not as deep as possible because the person next to you is folding deeper. Your edge. The point of compression or tension. Sensation.

2. Stillness. Not completely still and never moving. Of course, as we release into a pose we may find we can go a little further/deeper into the pose. This requires movement, no? But it's important to pay attention and be still to allow us to notice the body and target the deeper layers. Sometimes the hardest part of the practice is maintaining the resolve to be still in the pose!

3. Time! We hold poses for time (sometimes more than 10 minutes) to play the edge, to notice sensations and to allow our bodies to surrender and our minds to move a little deeper inward.
