CAIRNS COMMUNITY CALLOUT: SMALL MOTORS & MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT WANTED

We’re reaching out to the Cairns community for donations to support participants in our Rebuild Kickstarter Project with practical, hands-on learning.

We’re looking for old, unused or unwanted items such as:

🔧 Lawn mower motors
🔧 Whipper snippers
🔧 Small petrol engines
🔧 Chainsaws
🔧 Pumps and generators
🔧 Small machinery and mechanical equipment
🔧 Anything participants can safely pull apart, troubleshoot, repair and rebuild

Items do not need to be working - non-running equipment can be just as valuable for learning.

If you’re a local business, workshop, contractor or Cairns community member with something sitting around that could be put to better use, we’d love to hear from you.

This week, communities across the country come together to celebrate NAIDOC Week - a time to recognise the enduring strength, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme reminds us that our stories, knowledge and communities continue to shape a stronger future, built on the foundations laid by those who came before us.

It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout at today’s NAIDOC celebrations here in Gimuy (Cairns), with people coming together to celebrate culture, connection and community.

To everyone celebrating this week, we wish you a safe, meaningful and happy NAIDOC Week.
